Comparison of divertor seed impurity gases retention efficiency by SOLPS-ITER modeling

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
In the paper a SOLPS-ITER modeling of H-Mode scenarios with different seed impurity gases (N, Ne, Ar, Kr) is performed for ASDEX Upgrade geometry. These gases are compared from the point of view of their radiation efficiency and compression in the ...

From RE-211 to RE-123. How to control the final microstructure of superconducting single-domains

open access: yes, 2004
This paper reviews the usual techniques for producing YBCO-type single-domains and the microstructure of the as-obtained samples. The problems of seed dissolution and parasite nucleations are discussed in details.

Hysteresis-Free Nanosecond Pulsed Electrical Characterization of Top-Gated Graphene Transistors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We measure top-gated graphene field effect transistors (GFETs) with nanosecond-range pulsed gate and drain voltages. Due to high-k dielectric or graphene imperfections, the drain current decreases ~10% over time scales of ~10 us, consistent with charge ...

Mechanism of central temperature peaking in impurity seeded plasmas [PDF]

open access: yesPlasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 2003
Formation of a centrally peaked profile of the ion temperature by impurity seeding has been observed in all the largest tokamaks: JET, JT-60U, TFTR. A possible explanation of this phenomenon is proposed, which takes into account the suppression of ion temperature gradient instability induced anomalous transport through increasing ion effective charge ...

Enhancing Magnetic Hyperthermia at the Cell Membrane by Anchoring 92R‐Functionalized Magnetic Nanoparticles to Low‐Endocytic CCR9 Surface Receptors

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We present a strategy to enhance magnetic hyperthermia therapy by modulating nanoparticle–cell interactions. Antibody‐functionalized magnetic nanoparticles targeting the low‐internalizing CCR9 receptor enable spatially controlled membrane anchoring, reducing aggregation and maximizing heat generation under alternating magnetic fields.

Testing of the SOLPS-ITER code at Globus-M2 spherical tokamak with detached divertor

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
In according to a present understanding of Scrape-Off Layer (SOL) physics, future thermonuclear devices like ITER, DEMO and beyond, require high radiation regimes in order to reduce heat loads on tokamak divertor. Recent experiments at ASDEX Upgrade, JET

Overview of progress in European medium sized tokamaks towards an integrated plasma-edge/wall solution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Integrating the plasma core performance with an edge and scrape-off layer (SOL) that leads to tolerable heat and particle loads on the wall is a major challenge.

Seeds of impurity

open access: yeslo Squaderno, 2015
Ai Weiwei’s art installation Kui Hua Zi [Sunflower Seeds] took place between 2010 and 2011 in the gigantic Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern Gallery, in London. It consisted of 100 millions hand-crafted porcelain seeds made in Jingdezhen, China.1 An uneven surface to dive into, a haptic space of undulating vision, rustling steps, unusual horizontality, a

Low‐Temperature Fabrication of Thymosin β4‐Loaded Soluble Microneedles to Promote Wound Healing by Specific Binding to Downregulated Immune Regulators Vsig4 and IL22rɑ2

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic diagram depicting the fabrication and application of thymosin β4 (Tβ4)‐loaded microneedle patches for wound treatment. The Tβ4 was loaded into chitosan (CS) and sucrose MNs under mild conditions (4°C, 65% relative humidity). The Tβ4 MN patch specifically binds to the downregulated immune regulators Vsig4 and IL22rα2, thereby accelerating ...
