Cataclysmic Variables in the First Year of the Zwicky Transient Facility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Using selection criteria based on amplitude, time, and color, we have identified 329 objects as known or candidate cataclysmic variables (CVs) during the first year of testing and operation of the Zwicky Transient Facility.

In-Plane Testing of Damaged Masonry Wall Repaired with FRP [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Composites Letters, 2002
This paper describes the performance of a masonry wall repaired with glass fibre reinforced polymer, GFRP sheets. The original reinforced clay brick masonry wall was tested under in-plane lateral cyclic loading. Failure occurred due to yielding of the steel reinforcement and crushing of the bricks.

Dynamic Properties of Concrete Composite Panels under Eccentric Compression Loading Tests

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2015
The main aim of this paper is to examine the variability of some dynamic properties of concrete composite panels to in-plane eccentric compression loads via static and dynamic impact testing.

Using mechanical testing to assess texturing of prosthetic sockets to improve suspension in the transverse plane and reduce rotation.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Creating a secure and comfortable linkage between the residual limb and prosthetic socket in persons with lower limb amputation is a critical factor for successful rehabilitation, including ambulation and other activities of daily living.

Using Anisotropic Silicon Etch for Change the Crystal Orientation of Silicon Wafer [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2012
In this work، anisotropic silicon etch using KOH ، optical microscopic and X-ray diffraction testing، were used to determine the crystal orientation of the silicon wafer(100) plane , where the mechanical polishing and wet etching described the geometric ...

A Contactless Laser Doppler Strain Sensor for Fatigue Testing with Resonance-Testing Machine

open access: yesSensors, 2021
In this article, a non-contact laser Doppler strain sensor designed for fatigue testing with the resonance-testing machine is presented. The compact sensor measures in-plane displacements simultaneously from two adjacent points using the principle of in ...

Non-contact ultrasonic detection of angled surface defects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Non-destructive testing is an important technique, and improvements are constantly needed. Surface defects in metals are not necessarily confined to orientations normal to the sample surface; however, much of the previous work investigating the ...

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

Why and When Are Evidence‐Based Interventions Adopted in Paediatric Supportive Care? A Qualitative Exploration of the Determinants of Photobiomodulation Implementation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Oral mucositis is a common and debilitating side effect of childhood cancer and stem cell transplant treatments. It affects the quality of life of children and young people (CYP) and places a strain on services. Photobiomodulation is recommended for oral mucositis prevention in international guidance but is poorly implemented in UK ...
