Synthesis and characterization of a novel Y-Fe phase via kinetic neutron diffraction [PDF]
Kinetic in situ neutron diffraction has been used to study the crystallization of amorphous Y67Fe33. The results show that partial crystallization first occurs close to 300 ◦C where the Y phase is formed.

Hydrogen-Induced Order–Disorder Effects in FePd3
Binary intermetallic compounds, such as FePd3, attract interests due to their physical, magnetic and catalytic properties. For a better understanding of their hydrogenation properties, both ordered FePd3 and disordered Fe0.25Pd0.75 are studied by several

A study on the micromechanical behavior of Ti-55531 titanium alloy with lamellar microstructure by in-situ neutron diffraction [PDF]
High strength titanium alloys are promising materials for heavy component parts in the aviation industry. The limited combination of strength and ductility requires an understanding of deformation and stress partitioning between constituent phases.

Monitoring of Bainite Transformation Using in Situ Neutron Scattering
Bainite transformation behavior was monitored using simultaneous measurements of dilatometry and small angle neutron scattering (SANS). The volume fraction of bainitic ferrite was estimated from the SANS intensity, showing good agreement with the results

Effect of interlamellar spacing on the elastoplastic behavior of C70 pearlitic steel: Experimental results and self-consistent modeling [PDF]
The effect of pearlite microstructure characteristics on strength and deformation of C70 pearlitic steel was investigated. Tensile tests under X-ray diffraction coupled with self-consistent model have been used to identify the role of interlamellar ...

Stress-induced charge-ordering process in LiMn2O4
In this letter we report the stress-induced Mn charge-ordering process in the LiMn2O4 spinel, evidenced by the lattice strain evolutions due to the Jahn–Teller effects.
