In vivo dosimetry in total body irradiation
Total Body Irradiation (TBI) is a radiotherapy technique that consists of irradiating homogeneously the whole patient’s body and it is characterized by an extended source to surface distances and the use of large irradiation fields.

Global Efforts to Reduce Paediatric Cancer Care Disparities in Radiotherapy: A Decade Change
ABSTRACT Background We present an update on the status, needs and challenges faced by paediatric imaging and radiotherapy (RT) programmes globally after a previous survey conducted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) 10 years prior. Methods We developed and distributed a 121‐question survey to radiation oncologists, medical physicists and ...

A Simple, Dynamic Geometric Phantom for MRI and CT Reconstruction Pipelines: Beyond Shepp–Logan
ABSTRACT A customizable, dynamic geometric phantom was developed to bridge the gap between simplistic static phantoms and highly realistic, complex 4D solutions. The phantom enables initial testing, helps detect implementation errors, and supports quantitative evaluation of new dynamic acquisition and reconstruction methods.

Abstract Background Pelvic external beam radiation therapy (EBRT), frequently exposes a substantial fraction of active bone marrow (ABM), leading to radiation‐induced marrow suppression and associated hematologic toxicity. Accurate delineation and quantitative assessment of ABM are therefore essential to enable marrow‐sparing radiotherapy strategies ...

111. In vivo dosimetry and IMRT
Numerous international and national organizations (CIPR 1985, WHO 1988, SFPH-SFRO 1992, AAPM 1994, ESTRO 1994, IAEA 1998, IMRT Collaborative Group 2001…) recommend the practice of in vivo dosimetry to check the global quality of treatments by radiotherapy.

Characterization of animal tissues for Monte Carlo simulations in ion beam therapy
Abstract Purpose To obtain better elemental compositions (ECs), physical densities (PDs), and relative linear stopping powers (RLSPs) of tissues scanned by single or dual energy computed tomography for use by Monte Carlo (MC) simulations of light ion beam therapy.

Abstract Background Testicular shielding has long been used to reduce testicular dose during radiation treatment. However, quantitative evaluations of the effectiveness of such shielding in the literature vary substantially. Purpose In this study, the dose reduction expected at both the testicular skin surface and the inside of the testes was evaluated

Abstract Background In abdominal spectral Computed Tomography (CT), organ dose assessment is important for radiation safety but remains challenging due to the complexity of Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. Purpose This study aimed to compare the correlations of three size‐specific dose estimate (SSDE) metrics (including the central slice SSDEcenter, the ...

ABSTRACT Objectives Perforated appendicitis commonly results in intra‐abdominal infection requiring prolonged antibiotic therapy. Intraoperative antimicrobial adjuncts are limited, and photodynamic therapy (PDT) may provide a targeted, resistance‐independent approach.
