Abstract In his account of his Düsseldorf conversations with G.E. Lessing shortly before the latter’s death in 1781, F.H. Jacobi records the Enlightenment poet and philosopher’s allusion to the Kabbalistic philosophy of Henry More, whom he cited in support of his shocking Spinozist creed of the hen kai pan.

Abstract A 6‐month‐old male Old English Bulldog with tetralogy of Fallot (ToF) required general anaesthesia for surgical palliative treatment of ToF, whereby a shunt was placed between the left subclavian artery and the pulmonary trunk to increase pulmonary circulation (modified Blalock‐Taussig shunt).

Do changes in air transportation affect productivity? A cross‐country panel approach
This paper quantifies the economic impact of air transportation worldwide using two panel data methods to assess the effect of air cargo and air passenger volumes on GDP per employee (aggregate labour productivity). Fixed effects methods and instrumental variables allow us to tackle endogeneity concerns and simultaneity biases.

Signature of chaos in gravitational waves from a spinning particle [PDF]
A spinning test particle around a Schwarzschild black hole shows a chaotic behavior, if its spin is larger than a critical value. We discuss whether or not some peculiar signature of chaos appears in the gravitational waves emitted from such a system ...

Innermost Stable Circular Orbit of a Spinning Particle in Kerr Spacetime [PDF]
We study stability of a circular orbit of a spinning test particle in a Kerr spacetime. We find that some of the circular orbits become unstable in the direction perpendicular to the equatorial plane, although the orbits are still stable in the radial ...

Assessing the effects of repeated handling on physiology and condition of semi-precocial nestlings [PDF]
Repeated exposure to elevated levels of glucocorticoids during development can have long-term detrimental effects on survival and fitness, potentially associated with increased telomere attrition.

The cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor KRP2 controls the onset of the endoreduplication cycle during Arabidopsis leaf development through inhibition of mitotic CDKA;1 kinase complexes [PDF]
Exit from the mitotic cell cycle and initiation of cell differentiation frequently coincides with the onset of endoreduplication, a modified cell cycle during which DNA continues to be duplicated in the absence of mitosis. Although the mitotic cell cycle

Regulation of transcription elongation in response to osmostress [PDF]
Cells trigger massive changes in gene expression upon environmental fluctuations. The Hog1 stress-activated protein kinase (SAPK) is an important regulator of the transcriptional activation program that maximizes cell fitness when yeast cells are exposed
