Fatigue and Fracture Behavior in Advanced Layer‐Level SS316L‐17‐4PH Multi‐Material Fabrication via Powder Bed Fusion—Laser Beam

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 469-482, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The advent of AM engendered unprecedented control over materials distribution, spurring interest in multi‐material fabrication. Among AM techniques, powder bed fusion—laser beam (PBF‐LB) stands out, although it requires adaptation for multi‐material printing.

Slip Mode Transitions and Work Hardening of a Polycrystalline Superalloy: Effects on Striation Formation at Room Temperature

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 1, Page 52-61, January 2026.
ABSTRACT The crack propagation behavior of conventionally cast and wrought INCONEL 718 has been assessed to determine the dominant advancement mechanisms under different loading regimes. Long crack fatigue testing was carried out under constant load (CL) and overload (OL) scenarios. Under CL, low stress intensity ranges (ΔK) produced a faceted fracture

A novel method of nondestructive characterization via X-ray and high-speed imaging of TiC/IN718 composite materials manufactured by LMD

open access: yesResults in Engineering
In this study, IN718 alloys with TiC particulate content between wt.% 0÷15 were fabricated by Laser Melting Deposition (LMD). Increasing the ceramic reinforcement content in the metal matrix composites (MMC), the Laves phase decreased, while the hardness

Mechanical Properties of Counter-Gravity Cast IN718

open access: yesSuperalloys 718, 625, 706 and Various Derivatives (2005), 2005
Three molds consisting of 36 test-bar blanks each and test coupons were cast in IN718, a Ni-base alloy, using the Counter-gravity Low-pressure Inert-atmosphere (CLI) investment casting process. Test coupons were analyzed for chemical composition and the test bar blanks machined and tested for tensile and stress rupture properties.

Oxygen-induced intergranular fracture of the nickel-base alloy IN718 during mechanical loading at high temperatures

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2004
There is a transition in the mechanical-failure behavior of nickel-base superalloys from ductile transgranular crack propagation to time-dependent intergranular fracture when the temperature exceeds about 600 °C.
