Ex Situ Bioremediation Technology for Plastic Degradation

2019
The transportation of the plastic waste from the generating sites/dumping sites to other places for degradation under controlled condition, is referred to as ex situ remediation. The ex situ degradation involves landfilling, incineration, and composting. The ex situ environment can be managed according to the requirement.

An In Situ Probe for Investigating PEM Degradation Kinetics and Degradation Mitigation

ECS Transactions, 2011
This study has demonstrated that a fluorescent molecular probe (6-carboxy fluorescein) can be used for in-situ, real-time monitoring of the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) that are responsible for chemical degradation of the PEM (polymer electrolyte membrane) during fuel cell operation.

Inhibition of dentine collagen degradation by hesperidin: an in situ study

European Journal of Oral Sciences, 2015
Dentine caries is a process of demineralization and subsequent degradation of the collagenous matrix. Host‐derived proteolytic enzymes, such as matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), play a role in this process of dentine collagen degradation. Hampering this degradation retards the caries process.

Host-Derived Proteinases and Degradation of Dentine Collagen in situ

Caries Research, 2003
Dentine root caries is a process of demineralization and degradation of the organic matrix by proteinases. In this in situ study, the presence and activity of the matrix metalloproteinases 1, 2 and 9 (MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-9) in saliva and in completely demineralized dentine specimens were investigated.

Cubesat in-situ degradation detector (CIDD)

Acta Astronautica, 2015
Abstract The design of the thermal control and management system (TCS) is a central task in satellite design. In order to evaluate and dimensionize the properties of the TCS, material parameters specifying the conductive and radiative properties of the different TCS components have to be known including their respective variations within the mission ...

In situ degradabilities of barley grain cultivars

Canadian Journal of Animal Science, 1995
Differences in in situ dry matter degradabilities occurred at all incubation times when 22 cultivars of barley gram grown at three locations were examined. Rapidly and slowly degradable fractions ranged from 25 to 40% and from 49 to 65%, respectively. Rates of degradation ranged from 23 to 35% h−1 (P = 0.03).

In-situ Diagnostics for Cell Performance and Degradation

ECS Transactions, 2009
A 10-cell Mk 9 stack was characterized using current/voltage mapping during automotive drive cycle testing. Using performance, voltage loss breakdown and CO-stripping data so called degradation "fingerprints" were constructed that provide deeper insights into the underlying degradation modes.

Characterization of Nafion®XL Properties after Ex-Situ and In-Situ Degradations

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2018
Among the different PEMFC components the electrolyte membrane is still the object of many studies as its degradation remains a limiting factor of its durability. Quantities of work have focused on the impact of chemical damages due radical attacks leading to the scission of the polymer chains [1, 2].

Degradable thiol-acrylate photopolymers: polymerization and degradation behavior of an in situ forming biomaterial

Biomaterials, 2005
Degradable thiol-acrylate photopolymers are a new class of biomaterials capable of rapidly polymerizing under physiological conditions upon exposure to UV light, with or without added photoinitiators, and to depths exceeding 10 cm. These materials are formed in situ, and the versatility of their chemistry affords a high degree of control over the final

Observation of Membrane Degradation by In-Situ and Ex-Situ Electron Paramagnetic Resonance

ECS Transactions, 2007
The degradation of fuel cell membranes was investigated with perflourinated and with polyaromatic materials. Since radical mechanisms are thought to be responsible for damaging the components in a working fuel cell, •OH radicals were generated by cleavage of hydrogen peroxide by UV light, by heat, and using Fenton's reagent.
