Characterization of Maternal and Fetal Immunity Following in Utero Spina Bifida Repair and Surgery‐Induced Preterm Birth

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Fetal surgery (FS) for spina bifida (SB) repair improves infant outcomes; however, spontaneous preterm birth (sPTB) is common. We aimed to evaluate maternal and fetal immune responses following FS for SB repair. The utility of C‐reactive protein in neonatal early‐onset sepsis screening: A territory‐wide cohort analysis

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, EarlyView.
C‐reactive protein (CRP) is not recommended for early‐onset sepsis (EOS) screening in term neonates. CRP results can support EOS risk assessment in preterm neonates, but should be interpreted appropriately with other clinical parameters. A CRP level of >12.0 mg/L may suggest the need for lumbar puncture during sepsis evaluation.
