ABSTRACT Enhancing both starch and protein accumulation is a key strategy for improving maize yield and quality. Achieving this goal requires an in‐depth understanding of the regulatory mechanisms that integrate these pathways. Here, we demonstrate that functionally redundant subclass III SNF1‐related protein kinase 2s (SnRK2s) act as central ...

ABSTRACT Brassica napus is the second most important oil crop worldwide. Number of primary branches (Branch number, BN) and silique number on the main inflorescence (SMI) are key yield‐related quantitative traits. Here, we cloned a major QTL, qDB.A09, which simultaneously influences BN and SMI.

Immunofluorescence Labeling of Pollen Tubes
Pollen tube is regarded as an excellent single-cell model system in plant cell studies. This protocol describes the use of a rapid and reliable immunofluorescence labeling method for studying in situ localization of proteins in pollen tubes.

ABSTRACT Control of fruit ripening, quality and yield is of major scientific, nutritional and commercial importance. The burst of ethylene (ET) production at the initiation of ripening is the most critical event controlling climacteric (CL) fruit ripening, yet little is known about how it is initiated.

Pollen germination and pollen tube growth in vitro in quince cultivars
Pollen germination and pollen tube growth in vitro in eight quince cultivars (ʻLeskovackaʼ, ʻVranjskaʼ, ʻMoravaʼ, ʻPazardzijskaʼ, ʻHemusʼ, ʻAsenicaʼ, ʻPortugalʼ and ʻTriumphʼ) were studied in the three-year period (2010-2012). Agar-plate method with three different concentrations of sucrose (10%, 15% and 20%) was applied.

OsMT2b Regulates Pollen Development and ROS Homeostasis in a Photoperiod‐Dependent Manner
ABSTRACT Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are signalling molecules that promote programmed cell death in animal and plant systems. However, their role in rice (Oryza sativa L.) anther development is unclear. In this study, we show that lower transcript levels of the metallothionein gene OsMT2b in japonica rice plants obtained by RNA interference (RNAi ...

Weak Static and Extremely Low Frequency Magnetic Fields Affect In Vitro Pollen Germination
This study concerns the effects of a weak static magnetic field (MF) at 10 μT oriented downward, combined with a 16-Hz sinusoidal MF (10 μT), on in vitro pollen germination of kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa).

In vitro pollen viability and pollen germination of service tree (Sorbus domestica L.)
We investigated the pollen viability and germination of naturally grown service tree (Sorbus domestica L.). This is the first study on the pollen germination of service tree. Two staining tests, TTC (2,3,5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride) and IKI (Iodine potassium iodide) were used.
