Immunomodulation with thymopentin:in vitro studies
Medical Oncology and Tumor Pharmacotherapy, 1989Immunomodulation is interpreted as a temporary alert in a certain part of the immune system. The activation of immune competent cells is presented as a possible basic mechanism of this phenomenon. In the absence of a primary stimulus, immunomodulation remains physiologically silent, but it results in a modified immune response if the corresponding ...

A technique for the study of myogenesis in vitro
Experimental Cell Research, 1958THE differentiation into muscle elements of cells originating in explants of embryonic muscle tissue has been repeatedly studied. The literature has recently been reviewed by Godman [2] and individual references will not be given here. In the case to be described differentiation was both constant and rapid and the method may be suitable for studies of ...

Ultrasonographic Study of the Placenta in vitro
Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation, 201061 placentae were submitted to a study in vitro after deliveries. The ultrasonographic scanning was performed under the condition of immersing them in water and then comparing their images with the anatomical structure by cutting the placentae corresponding to the scanning line.

Skin viability studies in vitro
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1984During the last one hundred years numerous methods for skin viability studies have been published. They range from a clinical evaluation by successful grafting through histological techniques to in vitro studies of cell cultures. The aim is to find methods to predict viability of skin during bank procedures.

In vitro studies of intragastric digestion
Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 1983Following consumption of a meal, 99% of the large food particles are emptied only after intragastric fragmentation has reduced their diameter to less than 2 mm. An in vitro model was constructed to evaluate some of the factors which may play a role in the process of intragastric digestion. Gastric mixing of food was simulated in a silicone rubber tube (

A comparative in vitro study of thienamycin
Infection, 1982The in vitro activity of thienamycin was compared to that of other antibiotics against a large panel of bacteria obtained in blood cultures from cancer patients. This compound was the most active against gram-positive cocci and also proved to be extremely active against the gram-negative bacteria.

In vitro studies of cochlear excitation
Current Opinion in Neurobiology, 1998Although initially met with scepticism, the in vitro temporal bone preparation of the cochlea has proved to be a very important tool for investigating the function of the mammalian auditory system. As present techniques are able to maintain sufficient cellular viability, the in vitro preparation offers a valuable bridge between investigations using ...

Ceftazidime: comparative in-vitro study
Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, 1981Ceftazidime showed moderate activity against Staphylococcus aureus and a high activity against Haemophilus influenzae and the streptococci except against the enterococci. Ceftazidime inhibited 90% of the 830 Enterobacteriaceae tested at a concentration of 0.5 mg/l and 99% at 8 mg/l, an activity very similar to that of cefotaxime.

In vitro studies of human trophoblast
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1969Abstract Human 8 to 16 week placentas and WO strain human choriocarcinomatous tissue were grown in tissue cultures in the rocker and conventional static systems. A report of the cytologic observations, immunofluorescent staining, and gonadotropin production of these cultures is presented.
