Educational philosophising in the Everyday: UK immigrant mothers navigating identity and praxis during COVID‐19

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Debates surrounding motherhood have long centred on women's roles as carers. Although motherhood is now more widely recognised within feminist scholarship, it often remains conceptually separate from identities associated with formal educational discourse.

Effects of flecainide therapy on inappropriate shocks and arrythmias in catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia

open access: yes, 2012
We report the case of a child with catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia, who had inappropriate electric shocks by an implantable cardioverter defibrillator and from recurrence of arrhythmias despite an appropriate β-blocking treatment ...

Compliant hydrogel cuff coating with real‐time pressure monitoring and antibiofilm capabilities for ventilator‐associated pneumonia prophylaxis

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
A soft‐compliant hydrogel cuff coating combines real‐time pressure monitoring with intrinsic antibacterial activity for prophylaxis of ventilator‐associated pneumonia. A flexible pressure‐sensing patch is embedded in the coating to enable wireless dynamic monitoring of endotracheal cuff pressure through Bluetooth.

Inappropriate Detection of a Supraventricular Tachycardia as Dual Tachycardia by the PR Logic™ Algorithm

open access: yesIndian Pacing and Electrophysiology Journal, 2014
Tachycardia detection and therapy algorithms in Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICD) reduce, but do not eliminate inappropriate ICD shocks.

What drives animal responses to high severity fire? The role of functional traits

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fire regimes are changing worldwide, with increases in the frequency, extent, and severity of fires posing growing risks to biodiversity. Fire severity – the degree of habitat alteration following fire – strongly influences both immediate survival and long‐term recovery of fauna.

Life-threatening and life-saving inappropriate implantable cardioverter defibrillator shocks

open access: yes, 2021
An implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) lead dislodgement into the right atrium is a dangerous situation, particularly in patients in atrial fibrillation because atrial fibrillation can be sensed as ventricular fibrillation and true ventricular ...

Food‐solicitation displays in nestling birds: still begging for answers

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nestling begging is a key model for understanding animal communication and parent–offspring conflict. Dynamic begging displays are often interpreted as costly, honest signals of need, with honesty maintained by viability costs, as proposed in Godfray's influential signalling model.

A Case of Inappropriate Therapies for Atrial Flutter From a Subcutaneous ICD

open access: yesIndian Pacing and Electrophysiology Journal, 2014
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy’s (HCM) association with sudden cardiac death is well recognised. The risk of sudden cardiac death is known to increase when there is a history of unexplained syncope, abnormal blood pressure response during exercise, severe ...

Conceptualising Supply Chain Resilience Within Social Enterprises

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This research seeks to conceptualise supply chain resilience (SCRes) in a social enterprise (SE) context, focusing on SEs with a social mission to tackle food insecurity and food poverty. Despite the increasingly mature field of SCRes and awareness of the critical role SEs play in tackling social challenges such as food poverty, no studies ...
