Suprainguinal ectopic scrota of TS inbred rats [PDF]

open access: yesReproduction, 1988
Summary. A new rat line (TS inbred rats) showing uni- or bilateral ectopic scrota in about 70% of the males was established. Ectopic scrota were elongated pouches of the thin muscle layer under the suprainguinal body skin, in which hypoplastic testes and epididymides were seen.

Genome wide analysis of inbred mouse lines identifies a locus containing Ppar-γ as contributing to enhanced malaria surviva [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The genetic background of a patient determines in part if a person develops a mild form of malaria and recovers, or develops a severe form and dies. We have used a mouse model to detect genes involved in the resistance or susceptibility to Plasmodium ...

Screening and Analysis of Microsatellite Genetic Markers in Commonly Used Inbred Rat Strains

open access: yesShiyan dongwu yu bijiao yixue
ObjectiveTo screen a set of short tandem repeat (STR) markers covering rat chromosomes 1-20 and the X chromosome, with 2-4 markers on each chromosome, and establish a dedicated marker panel for genetic contamination detection and strain identification of

Avoidance Expression in Rats as a Function of Signal-Shock Interval: Strain and Sex Differences

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, 2015
Inbred Wistar Kyoto (WKY) rats express inhibited temperament, increased sensitivity to stress, and exaggerated expressions of avoidance. A long-standing observation for lever press escape/avoidance learning in rats is the duration of the warning signal (

Traffic Noise Exposure Increases Gastric Acid Secretion in Rat [PDF]

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2010
Noise is considered as one of the most severe sources of environmental and work place constraints. Noise effects on immune function, hormonal levels, cardiovascular and respiratory systems are well known.

Recurrent Regional Allelic Imbalance in Chromosome 15 in Rat Endometrial Adenocarcinomas [PDF]

open access: yesCell Journal, 2010
Objective: Animals of the inbred BDII rat strain are genetically predisposed to endometrialadenocarcinomas (EAC) and can be used to model human cancer.

Can Wistar rats be used as the normotensive controls for nerve morphometry investigations in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR)? Ratos Wistar podem ser utilizados como os controles normotensos dos ratos espontaneamente hipertensos (SHR) em investigações morfométricas de nervos periféricos?

open access: yesActa Cirúrgica Brasileira, 2011
PURPOSE: We compared the sural nerve morphology among Wistar (WR), Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) and Spontaneously hypertensive (SHR) rats, including the nerve fascicles and myelinated fibers morphometry.

Simulated childbirth injuries in an inbred rat strain [PDF]

open access: yesNeurourology and Urodynamics, 2008
AbstractAimsVaginal distension (VD) in outbred rats has been shown to decrease urethral resistance, as well as increase the expression of the stem cell‐homing chemokine, monocyte chemotactic factor 3 (MCP‐3), but not stromal derived factor 1 (SDF‐1). The aim of this study was to determine if similar responses are induced by VD in an inbred rat strain ...

The role of GABAB(1) receptor isoforms in anxiety and depression : genetic and pharmacological studies in the mouse [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Anxiety and depression disorders represent common, serious and growing health problems world-wide. The neurobiological basis of anxiety and depression, however, remains poorly understood.

Anthrax lethal factor cleaves mouse nlrp1b in both toxin-sensitive and toxin-resistant macrophages. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Anthrax lethal factor (LF) is the protease component of anthrax lethal toxin (LT). LT induces pyroptosis in macrophages of certain inbred mouse and rat strains, while macrophages from other inbred strains are resistant to the toxin.
