On incentive issues in practical auction design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Algorithmic mechanism design studies the allocation of resources to selfish agents, who might behave strategically to maximize their own utilities. This thesis studies these incentive issues arsing from four different settings, that are motivated by real- life applications.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

The Efficiency of Voluntary Incentive Policies for Preventing Biodiversity Loss [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we analyze the efficiency of voluntary incentive-based land-use policies for biodiversity conservation. Two factors combine to make it difficult to achieve an efficient result.

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Incentive Regulation in Theory and Practice: Electricity Distribution and Transmission Networks

open access: yes
Modern theoretical principles to govern the design of incentive regulation mechanisms are reviewed and discussed. General issues associated with applying these principles in practice are identified.

Ordinally Bayesian Incentive Compatible Stable Matchings [PDF]

open access: yes
We study incentive issues related to two-sided one-to-one stable matching problem after weakening the notion of strategy-proofness to Ordinal Bayesian Incentive Compatibility (OBIC).

Incentive contract design considering quotas production: A principal-agent perspective

open access: yesHeliyon
The quality of primary products in a supply chain is determined by the agent and the principal. Simultaneously, there are quota production constraints on the principals.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Comparison of respiratory muscle activities and cardiovascular function during different breathing types in healthy adults: Costal breathing, flow incentive spirometry, and volume incentive spirometry.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
BackgroundVarious breathing exercises are used to enhance lung function. However, many patients have reported experiencing breathlessness and an increased work of breathing during their use, but evidence supporting this is limited.
