MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

Energy Poverty and the Security Challenges in Northern Nigeria-Incidence and the Potential for Renewables

open access: yesCovenant Journal of Engineering Technology, 2018
A Multidimensional Energy Poverty Index (MEPI) has been used to study the incidence of energy poverty in Nigeria. Secondary data from the United States Agency for International Development was collated from over 44,000 households, from which calculated ...

Energy Taxes and Natural Gas Demand in EU-Countries [PDF]

open access: yes
Producers or consumers faced with an increase in taxes are usually able to shift parts of it to other levels in the value chain. We examine who is actually bearing the burden of increased energy taxes in the EU-area - consumers or exporters.

Nanoscale Mapping of Plasmonic Charge Transport in Nano‐Resonators Based on Resistive Switching Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this strategy, a conductive nano‐probe is employed to induce nanoscale phase transitions and map the nanoscale conductivity and trap density of GST films. By utilizing the contrasting properties of phase‐change states, nano‐resonators are fabricated that exhibit plasmonic conduction and dramatically different transport characteristics.

Non-Compensation of the Barrel Tile Hadron Module-0 Calorimeter [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The detailed experimental information about the electron and pion responses, the electron energy resolution and the e/h ratio as a function of incident energy E, impact point Z and incidence angle $\Theta$ of the Module-0 of the iron-scintillator barrel ...

Lasing Threshold Condition for Oblique TE and TM Modes, Spectral Singularities, and Coherent Perfect Absorption

open access: yes, 2015
We study spectral singularities and their application in determining the threshold gain coefficient $g^{(E/M)}$ for oblique transverse electric/magnetic (TE/TM) modes of an infinite planar slab of homogenous optically active material. We show that $g^{(E)

A Surface‐engineered Microfluidic Device for Antibody‐Mediated Negative Selection of High‐Quality Sperm for Assisted Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports a microfluidic device with a functionalized surface utilizing a polyoxazoline coating and covalently immobilized gold nanoparticles and anti‐phosphatidylserine antibody. The device efficiently eliminates pre‐apoptotic and apoptotic spermatozoa and yields sperm with substantially improved quality and low DNA damage, offering a simple ...

RATE OF ADJUSTMENT OF LEAF TEMPERATURE TO INCIDENT ENERGY [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1936
The variability of leaf mass as a factor in the energy relations of leaves was discussed (4) in a previous paper. The problem was considered with reference to the thermal effects of absorbed radiant energy, especially in the absence of energy loss through transpiration.

Circular‐Polarization‐Sensitive Organic Photodetectors with a Chiral Nanopatterned Electrode Inverse‐Designed by Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A chiral photodetector capable of selectively distinguishing left‐ and right‐handed circularly polarized light is experimentally demonstrated. The device, which features a nanopatterned electrode inverse‐designed by a genetic algorithm within a metal–dielectric–metal nanocavity that incorporates a vacuum‐deposited small‐molecule multilayer, exhibits ...

Generation of Anisotropic Massless Dirac Fermions and Asymmetric Klein Tunneling in Few-Layer Black Phosphorus Superlattices

open access: yes, 2016
Artificial lattices have been employed in many two-dimensional systems, including those of electrons, atoms and photons, in a quest for massless Dirac particles with flexibility and controllability.
