Low speed wind tunnel investigation of the aerodynamic and acoustic performance of several sonic inlet takeoff and approach geometries [PDF]

open access: yes
A series of tests was conducted to determine the aerodynamic and acoustic performance of several sonic inlet takeoff and approach geometries. The effects of inlet lip shape and diffuser length were also investigated.

Low‐Symmetry Weyl Semimetals: A Path to Ideal Topological States

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a theoretical framework for realizing ideal Weyl semimetals, where Weyl nodes are well‐isolated at the Fermi level. The approach is exemplified in the low‐symmetry material Cu2SnSe3, which exhibits tunable topological phases, current‐induced orbital magnetization, and a strong circular photogalvanic effect, making it a promising ...

High‐Fat and Low‐Carbohydrate Dietary Environments Are Linked to Reduced Idiopathic Epilepsy Incidence and Prevalence

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology
Dietary manipulations like ketogenic diets are established interventions for recalcitrant epilepsy. However, it remains unknown whether specific macronutrient exposure through dietary environments could possibly extend to primary preventive qualities ...

Biodegradable and Recyclable Luminescent Mixed‐Matrix‐Membranes, Hydrogels, and Cryogels based on Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks and Biopolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

Wood Reconfiguration Enables Broadband Blackbody in Large‐Area, Modular, Optically Welded Carbon Constructs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wood‐based broadband blackbody is achieved by reconfiguration of wood with lignin nanoparticles prior carbonization. Neglectable reflectivity from the visible to infrared wavelengths is obtained by combining thin nanostructures originated from the wood cell walls with long‐range microcavities in the wood lumina.

Enhancing Metal‐Support Interactions of Ru Catalysts via Relaxation of Oxygen Vacancies for Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Designing stable Ru nanoparticle catalyst remains a critical challenge in electrochemical applications. Here, a strategy is presented to stabilize Ru catalysts by leveraging Ce‐doped ZrO2 supports (ZrCeO2‐x), which enhance catalyst durability and activity through electronic metal‐support interactions and stabilized oxygen vacancies.

Wavelength‐Dependent Differential Amplification of Raman Scattering by Chiral Gold Nanorods for Multiplexed Encoding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The SERS spectra of reporter molecules adsorbed on chiral gold nanorods depends on the handedness of circularly polarized light (CPL‐SERS). The bisignate plasmonic CD spectra of chiral nanorods provides wavelength‐dependent CPL‐SERS. Selective discrimination of chiral nanorod handedness and different Raman reporters allow highly sensitive codification ...

Double Helical Plasmonic Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic double helical antennas funnel circularly polarized light to the nanoscale, offering strong chiroptical interaction and directional light emission. Extending a single helix design tool, this study combines numerical modeling with experimental validation, revealing large, broadband dissymmetry factors in the visible range.
