Influence of a Standard Heat Treatment on the Microstructure and Properties of Inconel X‐750 Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ni‐base superalloys produced using additive manufacturing (AM) have a different response to heat treatments when compared to their conventional counterparts. Due to such unpredictability, various alloys with industrial interest are currently overlooked in most prior AM research.

Quality Enhancement of Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion Parts by Acoustically Assisted Additive Manufacturing by Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion and its Application to Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing technologies like laser powder‐bed fusion offer great design freedom and individualization of products down to a batch size of one. However, parts fabricated with this technology suffer from poor quality. Acoustic assistance during the build process can minimize these drawbacks.

Optimized Strategy for Fabricating High‐Aspect‐Ratio Periodic Structures Over Large Areas Using ps‐Direct Laser Interference Patterning

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Picosecond direct laser interference patterning (DLIP) enables precise microstructure fabrication on stainless steel. Using a multiscan approach, high‐aspect‐ratio patterns are achieved. Fluence influences structure growth and homogeneity, with smaller periods yielding better uniformity.

Multimodal Characterization of Sn‐Bi Solder Alloy Solidification Using Synchrotron X‐Ray Microtomography and Energy Dispersive Diffraction

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Real‐time imaging and energy‐dispersive diffraction during solidification of Sn‐Bi alloy interconnect for electronic packaging applications are studied. Sn‐Bi solder alloys have generated significant interest in recent times due to their potential use in electronic packaging.

Unipotent representations of Lie incidence geometries [PDF]

open access: yesBeiträge zur Algebra und Geometrie / Contributions to Algebra and Geometry, 2014
If a geometry $ $ is isomorphic to the residue of a point $A$ of a shadow geometry of a spherical building $ $, a representation $\varepsilon_ ^A$ of $ $ can be given in the unipotent radical $U_{A^*}$ of the stabilizer in $\mathrm{Aut}( )$ of a flag $A^*$ of $ $ opposite to $A$, every element of $ $ being mapped onto a suitable subgroup of $U_ ...

Incircular nets and confocal conics

open access: yes, 2017
We consider congruences of straight lines in a plane with the combinatorics of the square grid, with all elementary quadrilaterals possessing an incircle. It is shown that all the vertices of such nets (we call them incircular or IC-nets) lie on confocal

On a paucity result in Incidence Geometry

open access: yes, 2022
We obtain some asymptotic formulae (with power savings in their error terms) for the number of quadruples in the Cartesian product of an arbitrary set $A \subset \mathbf{R}$ and for the number of quintuplets in $A\times A$ for any subset $A$ of the prime field $\mathbf{F}_p$.

Structurally Colored Physically Unclonable Functions with Ultra‐Rich and Stable Encoding Capacity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
This study reports a design strategy for generating bright‐field resolvable physically unclonable functions with extremely rich encoding capacity coupled with outstanding thermal and chemical stability. The optical response emerges from thickness‐dependent structural color formation in ZnO features, which are fabricated by physical vapor deposition ...

Properties of the defect modes in 1D lossy photonic crystals containing two types of negative-index-material defects

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, the characteristic matrix method is employed to theoretically investigate the propagation of electromagnetic waves through one-dimensional defective lossy photonic crystals (PCs) composed of negative index materials (NIMs) and positive ...
