Clinical Characteristics and Follow-Up Results of Adrenal Incidentaloma.
Experimental and clinical endocrinology & diabetes, 2020It is recommended that adrenal incidentaloma patients should be monitored for radiological changes, increase in size and new functionality that may occur in the future, even if they are benign and nonfunctional at the initial evaluation.

Incidentally found adrenal tumors are found with increased frequency due to widespread use diagnostic methods such as sonography, computed tomography, or magnetic resonance. The main goal is to evaluate its potential metastatic potential on one side, and possible hormonal overactivity on other side.

Incidental adnexal masses occur with relatively high frequency in post-menopausal women, with a prevalence rate of 3.3-18% in asymptomatic patients. Unilocular, benign-appearing ovarian cysts represent the vast majority of abnormal findings at transvaginal ultrasonography.

Compared with other intraabdominal organs, there is a paucity of scientific investigation involving the spleen; in particular, little has been published in the radiology literature regarding the detection and characterization of splenic disease conditions. Splenic lesions are common in a busy radiology practice.

The optimal strategy for hormonal screening of a patient with any incidentally discovered pituitary mass is unknown. The authors' review of the endocrinologic literature supports the view that such patients are at slightly increased risk for morbidity and mortality.

Incidental pituitary masses are commonly found during CT and MR imaging performed for a variety of reasons. Screening for hormone oversecretion by these tumors seems to be warranted. Patients with lesions greater than 1 cm should be screened for hypopituitarism.

Incidentally discovered pituitary adenomas are more and more commonly encountered in endocrinology and neurosurgical practices. Often they present as difficult problems in management strategies. This review summarizes the latest evidence and opinions in a variety of settings in which incidental pituitary tumors are discovered, including subclinical ...

Thyroid incidentaloma is defined as an unsuspected, asymptomatic thyroid lesion that is discovered on an imaging study or during an operation unrelated to the thyroid gland. Thyroid incidentalomas are most commonly detected on ultrasound, followed in frequency by computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), carotid duplex scanning and

Pituitary incidentaloma are being accidentally found during imaging procedures in approximately 10% of normal population. Facing pituitary incidentalomas endocrinologists have to decide about further management based on the assessment of hormonal activity, aetiology, size, and possible compressive symptoms.

The term adrenal incidentaloma (AI) is usually defined as an adrenal mass unexpectedly detected through an imaging procedure performed for reasons a priori unrelated to adrenal dysfunction or suspected dysfunction. The preferred approach to their management in terms of diagnosis, follow-up, and treatment remain controversial despite a state-of-the ...
