Uniaxial Stretching of Biodegradable Poly(Butylene Succinate‐Co‐Adipate) Films Filled With Silane‐Treated Wollastonite: Processing and Performance Evaluation

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Biobased poly(butylene succinate‐co‐adipate) films filled with silane‐treated wollastonite were engineered using blown film extrusion followed by uniaxial stretching. The tensile strength and moisture barrier properties of 15% filled films improved by approximately 213% and 12%, respectively, after uniaxial stretching.

Surface Characterization of Scintillator‐Adsorbed Polyethylene Terephthalate Film and Its Use for Detecting α$$ \upalpha $$‐ and β$$ \upbeta $$‐Particles

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Thermal transfer using the high‐temperature crimping method led to the bonding of cellulose fibers and a scintillator to the film surface. β‐Particles of tritiated water were detected by immersing the scintillator‐adsorbed film. Scintillation images of the scintillator‐adsorbed film were obtained by irradiating β‐particles from 90Sr/90Y and α‐particles

Study on Thermal Conversion of the Waste Oil Absorbin Activated Carbon

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
The pyrolysis and combustion characteristics of a waste oil absorbing activated carbon were investigated using a thermogravimetric analyzer under heating rate of 10°C/min from 25°C to 1000°C. The activated carbon sample was used to adsorb waste oil.

Use of Alternating Current Spinning to Prepare Carbon Nanofibers From Commercial PAN Fibers

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to explore the potential of recycling commercial polyacrylonitrile fibers through electrospinning to produce carbon nanofibers (CNFs). We evaluated the feasibility of producing bulk nanofiber layers from recycled polymer and optimized the process to achieve an optimal solution concentration (10 wt%).

Study on the Effect of Mineral Compounds on the Behavior of Heavy Metals During Oily Sludge Incineration

open access: yesEnergies
Incineration is a highly effective method for treating oily sludge. However, during the incineration process, heavy metals may either be released into the air via flue gas or remain in the bottom ash in an unstable form, posing significant environmental ...

Combining dynamic life cycle assessment and net ecosystem exchange through the framework of biobased materials and products‐life cycle assessment (BBM‐LCA): application to polylactic acid

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Biobased products can achieve carbon negativity by storing biogenic carbon in the technosphere through circular loops. Quantifying these benefits requires quantitative assessment tools such as life cycle assessment (LCA). However, the LCA of biobased materials is not straightforward due to the complexity of addressing agroecosystem carbon ...
