The Lithornithiformes (Aves) from the early Eocene London Clay of Walton‐on‐the‐Naze (Essex, UK)

open access: yesPapers in Palaeontology, Volume 11, Issue 1, January/February 2025.
Abstract We describe multiple partial skeletons and isolated bones of the palaeognathous Lithornithiformes from the early Eocene London Clay of Walton‐on‐the‐Naze (Essex, UK). The well‐preserved specimens are assigned to at least four species of the taxa Lithornis and Pseudocrypturus. Two species of Lithornis are identified as L. nasi and L.

How does the shape of the wing and hindlimb bones of aquatic birds relate to their locomotor abilities?

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 307, Issue 12, Page 3801-3829, December 2024.
Abstract Aquatic birds represent diverse ecologies and locomotion types. Some became flightless or lost the ability for effective terrestrial locomotion, yet, certain species excel in water, on land, and in air, despite differing physical characteristics associated with each medium.

The arterial risk posed by the posterolateral approach: An anatomical cadaveric study of the fibular artery and its variability

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, Volume 37, Issue 8, Page 840-848, November 2024.
Abstract The posterior malleolus of the tibia is commonly accessed surgically through the posterolateral approach. This approach gives good access to the fibula and lateral aspect of the posterior tibia, however; there is little known on the vascular risks with this approach.

Multiportal Arthroscopy‐assisted Surgical Resection of Diffuse‐type Tenosynovial Giant Cell Tumors in the Ankle Joint Yields Favorable Clinical Outcomes: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 16, Issue 11, Page 2680-2687, November 2024.
Ankle arthroscopy is characterized by its short duration, minimal trauma, and rapid recovery. Moreover, it enables clear visualization of lesions, and with the use of multiportal approaches, complete excision of diffuse‐type tenosynovial giant cell tumors (Dt‐TGCTs) within the ankle joint cavity is feasible.

Homeopathic Ankle Dislocation for Treatment of Unstable Trimalleolar Fractures Involving Posterior Die‐Punch Fragment: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 16, Issue 5, Page 1230-1238, May 2024.
This study presents a novel homeopathic ankle dislocation approach during surgical treatment and evaluates its effects and safety for patients with unstable trimalleolar fractures involving comminuted posterior malleolar fractures. Homeopathic ankle dislocation is used for the unstable trimalleolar fractures involving posterior die‐punch fragment ...

Unusual Fibularis (Peroneus) Muscle

open access: yes, 2015
Routine dissection has identified a previously unrecorded fibularis (peroneus) muscle in a 74-year-old male cadaver. The anomalous fibularis muscle was found lying immediately antero-medial to the fibularis longus (FL) muscle of the left leg.

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, Volume 36, Issue 4, Page e104-e112, April 2024.
Summary The objective of this study was to report clinical characteristics, surgical management and medium‐term (6–12 months) outcomes of three Arabian neonatal foals with meniscal disruption associated with septic arthritis of the lateral femorotibial joint. The three neonatal Arabian foals with septic arthritis of the lateral femorotibial joint (LFTJ)
