Sex‐Stratified Association of Regional Dopamine Transporter Binding With Disease Progression in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To clarify the clinical relevance of dopamine transporter single‐photon emission computed tomography (DAT‐SPECT) abnormalities in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), with a prespecified focus on sex‐stratified associations with disease progression and short‐term prognosis.

Polarized image of an equatorial emitting ring around a 4D Gauss–Bonnet black hole

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2022
We have studied the polarized image of an equatorial emitting ring around a 4D Gauss–Bonnet black hole. Our results show that the effects of Gauss–Bonnet parameter on the polarized image depend on the magnetic field configuration, the observation ...

Estimation of road inclination and bank angle in automotive vehicles [PDF]

open access: yes2009 American Control Conference, 2009
We extend an observer design for estimation of the vehicle sideslip angle on horizontal surfaces to include estimation of the road inclination angle and the road bank angle. The design makes use of a nonlinear road-tire friction model, and the nonlinearity of the road-tire friction forces are taken into account in the theoretical analysis of the design.

Does Long‐Term Lower Extremity Strength Training in Adults With Knee Osteoarthritis and Varus Alignment Reduce Knee Joint Loading During Gait?

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...

Analysis of the influence of maintruss inclination angle on the aerodynamic characteristics of inverted trapezoidal steel joists [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hebei University of Science and Technology
Aiming at the problem that the change of the inclination angle of the main truss has a great influence on the aerodynamic characteristics of inverted trapezoidal steel trusses, taking a public-rail continuous steel truss as an example, the effect of main ...

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

Discomfort caused by x-axis vibration of the back: effect of backrest inclination

open access: yes, 2010
Vibration of the back is a potential source of discomfort for car passengers, with vibration in the x-axis (i.e. fore-and-aft with an upright backrest) often dominant.

Electrochemical Evaluation of Compressed Selective Laser Melted AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg Alloys in Chloride Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...
