Controlling modulation instability using an incoherent low amplitude seed
SPIE Proceedings, 2014We use a continuous-wave low power incoherent seed to control spontaneous modulation instability (MI) in a highly-nonlinear optical fiber. We show both experimentally and numerically that spectral and noise properties of MI can be accurately controlled provided the spectral characteristics of the seed are chosen carefully.

Incoherent control in a non-Hermitian Bose-Hubbard dimer
Physical Review A, 2011We investigate the combined effect of the particle-particle interaction and non-Hermiticity on the quantum states and energy spectra for a non-Hermitian Bose-Hubbard dimer with complex coupling constant. It is analytically and numerically found that a real energy appears uniquely when a balance between the interaction strength and non-Hermiticity is ...

On the Incoherencies in Web Browser Access Control Policies
2010 IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy, 2010Web browsers' access control policies have evolved piecemeal in an ad-hoc fashion with the introduction of new browser features. This has resulted in numerous incoherencies. In this paper, we analyze three major access control flaws in today's browsers: (1) principal labeling is different for different resources, raising problems when resources ...

Coherent and Incoherent Laser Control of Photochemical Events
1995Selectivity is at the heart of Chemistry and the control of reactions using lasers has been a goal for decades. Recently, we[1]–[20] and other groups[21]–[30] have demonstrated theoretically that one can achieve this goal by using quantum interference phenomena.

Abstract The theory of resonantly enhanced molecular dissociation induced by a two-pulse sequence to a continuum which is dressed by a third pulse is developed. Closed form expressions for the state preparation and evolution are derived within the adiabatic approximation.

Temporal pulse compression and retardation by incoherent all-optical control
Physical Review A, 2010We present a theoretical analysis of a new scheme for temporal retardation combined with temporal compression of weak laser pulses, optically controlled by the presence of one additional light pulse. A realistic realization of this scheme in hot Rb is discussed, showing that a large range of values of the optically controllable delay-bandwidth product ...

Depth of Field Control in Incoherent Hybrid Imaging Systems
2003A hybrid imaging system combines a modified optical imaging system and a digital post-processing step. We define a new metric to quantify the blurring of a defocused image that is more suitable than the defocus parameter for hybrid imaging systems.

INCOHERENT INTERFERENCE CONTROL OF PHOTODISSOCIATION IN THE STRONG FIELD DOMAIN
Journal of Nonlinear Optical Physics & Materials, 1995Control over channel specific line shapes and branching ratios in photodissociation is achievable by irradiating a molecule with two intense CW lasers whose relative phase need not be well defined. Control results from quantum interference between nonlinear pathways induced by the intense fields, within which the relative laser phase cancels.

Robust incoherent control of qubit systems via switching and optimisation
International Journal of Control, 2009A robust incoherent quantum control scheme via projective measurements plus unitary transformations is proposed for driving a qubit system from an unknown initial mixed state to an arbitrary target pure state. This scheme consists of two main steps: projective measurement on the initial mixed state and optimal control between two pure states. The first
