Quantum Control Landscapes for Generation of H and T Gates in an Open Qubit with Both Coherent and Environmental Drive

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
An important problem in quantum computation is the generation of single-qubit quantum gates such as Hadamard (H) and π/8 (T) gates, which are components of a universal set of gates.

Incoherent control of locally controllable quantum systems [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2008
An incoherent control scheme for state control of locally controllable quantum systems is proposed. This scheme includes three steps: (1) amplitude amplification of the initial state by a suitable unitary transformation, (2) projective measurement of the amplified state, and (3) final optimization by a unitary controlled transformation.

Competitive Public Procurement during COVID-19: The Unique Political and Policy Experience of the United States [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Public Procurement Markets, 2021
COVID-19 appeared during one of the most turbulent political environments in U.S. history. This research documents how political polarization during a presidential election year coincided with an incoherent national policy and procurement response to the

Controllable nonlinear propagation of partially incoherent Airy beams

open access: yesOptics Express, 2023
The self-accelerating beams such as the Airy beam show great potentials in many applications including optical manipulation, imaging and communication. However, their superior features during linear propagation could be easily corrupted by optical nonlinearity or spatial incoherence individually.

Control Landscape of Measurement-Assisted Transition Probability for a Three-Level Quantum System with Dynamical Symmetry

open access: yesQuantum Reports, 2023
Quantum systems with dynamical symmetries have conserved quantities that are preserved under coherent control. Therefore, such systems cannot be completely controlled by means of only coherent control.

Selective excitation of subwavelength atomic clouds

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2021
A dense cloud of atoms with randomly changing positions exhibits coherent and incoherent scattering. We show that an atomic cloud of subwavelength dimensions can be modeled as a single scatterer where both coherent and incoherent components of the ...

Symmetry breaking in thermal photonics

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications, 2022
Engineering symmetries in nanostructures and metasurfaces provides a new paradigm to control incoherent heat radiation for applications in energy conversion, thermal sources, infrared imaging, and radiative cooling.
