Inverse Scattering and Acousto-Optic Imaging [PDF]
We propose a tomographic method to reconstruct the optical properties of a highly-scattering medium from incoherent acousto-optic measurements. The method is based on the solution to an inverse problem for the diffusion equation and makes use of the ...

Incoherent Qubit Control Using the Quantum Zeno Effect
The quantum Zeno effect is the suppression of Hamiltonian evolution by repeated observation, resulting in the pinning of the state to an eigenstate of the measurement observable. Using measurement only, control of the state can be achieved if the observable is slowly varied such that the state tracks the now time-dependent eigenstate.

Control using local distance measurements cannot prevent incoherence in platoons [PDF]
When local control strategies are used to arrange a platoon into a string like formation, there is mounting evidence that a poorly regulated accordion like motion will emerge. In this paper we prove that this is an inevitable consequence of using local distance measurements to design the control.

Towards self-clocked gated OCDMA receiver [PDF]
A novel incoherent OCDMA receiver with incorporated all-optical clock recovery for self-synchronization of a time gate for the multi access interferences (MAI) suppression and minimizing the effect of data time jitter in incoherent OCDMA system was ...

Control of Chimera States in Multilayer Networks
Chimera states are intriguing complex spatio-temporal patterns of coexisting coherent and incoherent domains. They can often be observed in networks with non-local coupling topology, where each element interacts with its neighbors within a fixed range ...

Background Regulation of gene expression is of paramount importance in all living systems. In the past two decades, it has been discovered that certain motifs, such as the feedforward motif, are overrepresented in gene regulatory circuits.

Respiratory brain impulse propagation in focal epilepsy
Respiratory brain pulsations pertaining to intra-axial hydrodynamic solute transport are markedly altered in focal epilepsy. We used optical flow analysis of ultra-fast functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data to investigate the velocity ...

A route to sub-diffraction-limited CARS Microscopy [PDF]
We theoretically investigate a scheme to obtain sub-diffraction-limited resolution in coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy. We find using density matrix calculations that the rise of vibrational (Raman) coherence can be strongly ...

Heralded generation of maximal entanglement in any dimension via incoherent coupling to thermal baths [PDF]
We present a scheme for dissipatively generating maximal entanglement in a heralded manner. Our setup requires incoherent interactions with two thermal baths at different temperatures, but no source of work or control.
