The Cutting Simulation of Inconel 718

open access: yesApplied Mechanics and Materials, 2010
The chemical composition and properties of nickel-based superalloy Inconel 718 was investigated first. Turning Inconel 718 was simulated by Deform-3D software to figure out main affection factors, and optimal combination of cutting speed, feed rate and cutting depth was introduced.

The machinability of inconel 718

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1997
Abstract Inconel 718, a high strength, thermal resistant Nickel-based alloy, is mainly used in the aircraft industries. Due to the extreme toughness and work hardening characteristics of the alloy, the problem of machining Inconel 718 is one of ever-increasing magnitude, This paper discusses the effect of cutting conditions on the machinability of ...

Broaching of Inconel 718 with cemented carbide

Production Engineering, 2013
Broaching is the standard process for machining complex-shaped slots in turbine discs. More flexible processes such as milling, wire EDM machining and water-jet cutting are under investigation and show promising results. In order to further use existing resources and process knowledge, the broaching process has to be improved towards higher material ...
