Reasoning Consistently about Inconsistency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Patching et al. and Hinde et al. in their work on truth-space mass assignments, presented a semantic unification function and a semantic separation function for mass assignment logic that dealt with inconsistency. This paper takes these two functions and

The crystal structure of the Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase BBE22 resolves a long‐standing annotation error

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

Status inconsistency

open access: yes, 2020
Status inconsistency occurs when an individual experiences a discrepancy between two or more of their status characteristics. Status inconsistency theory suggests that individuals may experience frustration and uncertainty when they have some status ...

A survey of inconsistency indices for pairwise comparisons

open access: yesInternational Journal of General Systems, 2018
Pairwise comparisons are a well-established tool to compare weights of criteria and alternatives or, more in general, any entities. Their ultimate goal is to facilitate the search for a suitable weight vector.

The inconsistency of the h‐index

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, 2011
AbstractThe h‐index is a popular bibliometric indicator for assessing individual scientists. We criticize the h‐index from a theoretical point of view. We argue that for the purpose of measuring the overall scientific impact of a scientist (or some other unit of analysis), the h‐index behaves in a counterintuitive way.

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

Pairwise comparison matrices: an empirical research

open access: yes, 2011
Our research focused on testing various characteristics of pairwise comparison (PC) matrices in controlled experiments. About 270 students have been involved in the test exercises and the final pool contained 450 matrices.

Forgetting-Based Inconsistency Measure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We propose to apply a variant of forgetting, a simple method to restore consistency, in order to get a new inconsistency measure from the following intuitive idea: How much effort is needed to restore consistency of a knowledge base is presumably ...
