Mod Tanh‐Activated Physical Neural Network MPPT Control Algorithm for Varying Irradiance Conditions

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
The proposed MPPT controller (CRT‐POA‐PID) is implemented to enhance power efficiency in the PV system. The beta‐distributed point estimation technique is used for mismatch factor correction, improving performance. Simulations show a 98.42% efficiency improvement, a 4.54 dB reduction in total harmonic distortion, and faster convergence compared to ANN ...

Optimal Reactive Power Planning Using FACTS Devices for Voltage Stability Enhancement in Power Transmission Systems

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Series and Shunt Reactive compensation can be used to improve voltage stability. The L‐index and Fast Voltage Stability Index are used to evaluate stability. Cost of reactive compensation is included directly in the optimization process. Multi‐objective optimization determines the optimal sizing of FACTS devices.

Risk‐Based Expansion Planning of Regional Energy Networks

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A risk‐based expansion planning model is proposed for RENs considering operation and investment costs. PVs and WTs power generation, demand response (DR), and failures of tie switches between RENs and distribution networks are defined as RENs operation uncertainties.

Thermodynamics and the Fuel Qualities of Produced Biodiesel From Nonedible Biomaterials: RStudio and Central Composite Design Approach

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Schematic approach of the green diesel production process and its utilization. ABSTRACT A unique green catalyst was derived from novel powdered Uzere tallow seeds shell calcined at 700°C for 1 h in a muffle furnace. The catalytic activity of the Uzere acidified catalyst was due to a high proportion of sulphur trioxide, calcium oxide, and potassium ...

Regional adaptation of integrated pest management to control invasive forest insects

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and the Environment, EarlyView.
Globalization is increasing the threat of invasive forest insects to ecosystems. Control efforts against the same pest species progressively occur across distant jurisdictions as integrated pest management (IPM) programs or tactics developed in one region are adopted by another region.

Highly Targeted Metabolomics Coupled With Gene Expression Analysis by RT–qPCR Improves Beef Separation Based on Grass, Grain, or Grape Supplemented Diet

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to use a multi‐omics (i.e., gene expression quantification, metabolomics, and fatty acid [FA] profiling) approach to separate and authenticate beef from three different dietary groups. In this 2‐year study, Red Angus steers (n = 54) were randomly allocated to one of three treatments: (1) complex biodiverse ...

Incremental Fuzzy Decision Trees

open access: closed, 2002
We present a new classification algorithm that combines three properties: It generates decision trees, which proved a valuable and intelligible tool for classification and generalization of data; it utilizes fuzzy logic, that provides for a fine grained description of classified items adequate for human reasoning; and it is incremental, allowing rapid ...

A New Incremental Learning Technique For Decision Trees With Thresholds

open access: closedSPIE Proceedings, 1989
This paper presents some basic algorithms for manipulating decision trees with thresholds. The algorithms are based on discrete decision theory. This algebraic approach to discrete decision theory, in particular, provides syntactic techniques for reducing the size of decision trees.

An Increment Decision Tree Algorithm for Streamed Data

open access: closed2015 IEEE Trustcom/BigDataSE/ISPA, 2015
Incremental (online) learning algorithms are methods for on-demand classification process from continuous streams of data. The main purpose is to deal with the classification task when original dataset is too large to process or when new instances of data arrive at any time.

Pool-based active learning based on incremental decision tree

open access: closed2010 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics, 2010
The pool-based active learning intends to collect the samples into the pool firstly, and selects the best informative sample from it which has no label to add into the training sets for updating the classifier secondly. This paper proposed a new method based on the incremental decision tree algorithm to measure the ambiguity of the unlabeled samples ...
