Speeding up Very Fast Decision Tree with Low Computational Cost

open access: yesInternational Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2020
Very Fast Decision Tree (VFDT) is one of the most widely used online decision tree induction algorithms, and it provides high classification accuracy with theoretical guarantees. In VFDT, the split-attempt operation is essential for leaf-split.

Residual Stress States in Microstructurally Graded PBF–LB/M Austenitic Steel Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines microstructurally graded 316L rectangular tube profiles fabricated via PBF–LB/M using a dual‐laser system. A 1 kW top‐hat and a 400 W Gaussian laser create distinct grain sizes and crystallographic texture. Mechanical properties are linked to microstructural evolution driven by processing conditions.

Batch-Incremental Learning for Mining Data Streams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The data stream model for data mining places harsh restrictions on a learning algorithm. First, a model must be induced incrementally. Second, processing time for instances must keep up with their speed of arrival.

Toward Architected Microstructures Using Advanced Laser Beam Shaping in Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Ti‐6Al‐4V

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research applies advanced laser beam shaping (LCoS‐SLM) to fabricate the Ti‐6Al‐4V alloy via laser powder bed fusion. A tailored beam is used to prevent martensite formation and create a dual α+β microstructure by controlling cooling rates.

Multi-objective Optimization for Incremental Decision Tree Learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 1952
. Decision tree learning can be roughly classified into two categories: static and incremental inductions. Static tree induction applies greedy search in splitting test for obtaining a global optimal model.

Engineering Anisotropic Mechanical Properties in Large‐Scale Fabricated Cartilage Constructs Using Microfiber Reinforcement

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the development of large‐scale (15 cm2) cartilage constructs with anisotropic mechanical properties using melt electrowritten (MEW) microfiber reinforced cell‐laden gelatin methacryloyl (gelMA). These constructs mimic the mechanical behavior of native cartilage, providing a suitable environment for Articular Cartilage ...

Synthetic Control of Water‐Stable Hybrid Perovskitoid Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Hybrid metal‐halide perovskites are promising semiconductors for optoelectronics, yet their water stability is problematic. A new synthesis method is developed using lead iodide and cysteamine under various pH conditions, forming stable perovskitoid structures.
