Polymer self-heating during incremental forming
Journal of Manufacturing Processes, 2020Abstract The study investigates the suitability of friction heating, generated by the forming tool rotation, to form polymer sheets during single-point incremental forming, and the possibility to control the temperature of the sheet by the selection of proper processing parameters.

The incremental tube forming process is an innovative approach to manufacture three-dimensionally bent tubes with varying cross sections. The process combination of a tube bending and a tube spinning process leads to a significantly reduced bending moment as well as to a reduced springback compared to a conventional bending process.

Incremental Bulk Metal Forming
CIRP Annals, 2007Incremental bulk forming is the oldest known technique in metal working. Many developments in this field have dramatically changed our society. Today incremental bulk forming processes are applied to quality products in small and large series production. Numerous advances have been realized.

The production of sheet metal parts has long been associated with either skilled manual labour or to the use of expensive tooling for mass production. This led to two classical application fields: the manufacture of unique parts with a high cost and low accuracy, and the mass production of parts after a high tolling investment.

The fabrication of load-adapted parts is one of the main objectives of component lightweight design. In the field of profile manufacturing load adaption is achieved by varying the cross section geometry according to the occurring sevice loads. In this regard, incremental profile forming (IPF) allows the manufacturing of profiles with varying cross ...

Incremental Single Point Forming
Manufacturing Engineering, 2000Abstract The process of single point incremental micro-plastic forming is presented. This process is used to form sheet metal into complicated shapes without the use of either a male or female die. The process uses a single point tool which plastically deforms sheet metal to give a local micro-deformation.

Multistep Incremental Forming beyond 100°
Key Engineering Materials, 2021While Incremental Sheet Forming (ISF) is approaching accuracy levels suitable for industrial take-up for specific applications, limited forming angles are still a great concern, leaving many applications out of reach. In this paper a two sided strategy for multistep incremental forming is presented, aiming at increased uniform wall thickness.

Single point incremental forming
International Journal of Materials and Product Technology, 2008Traditional sheet metal forming requires expensive dedicated dies, both positive and negative dies, where each die mimics one side of the desired part. Modern manufacturing industry strives to be flexible and to respond to customer needs. This trend toward flexibility requires new sheet metal forming methods.

Incremental Construction of Greibach Normal Form
2013 International Symposium on Theoretical Aspects of Software Engineering, 2013This paper presents an incremental version of the well-known algorithm for constructing the Greibach normal form (GNF) of a context-free string grammar. It supports the extension of the grammar by additional rules without the need of reperforming the GNF construction from scratch.
