Micro computed tomography based finite element models of calcium phosphate scaffolds for bone tissue engineering [PDF]
Bone is a living tissue that is able to regenerate by itself. However, when severe bone defects occur, the natural regeneration may be impaired. In these cases, bone graft substitutes can be used to induce the natural healing process.

Synthesis and characterisation of controllably functionalised polyaniline nanofibres [PDF]
A novel method for functionalising solution based polyaniline (PAni) nanofibres is reported whereby the degree of side-chain attachment can be controllably altered.

Zinc(II) coordination complexes with tunable aryloxy‐imine ligands exhibit controllable supramolecular self‐assembly into hierarchical fibrous structures. Coordination‐driven stacking, not π–π interactions, enables gelation, dynamic assembly/disassembly, and enhanced nanomechanical properties.

A Reexamination of the Distinction Between Loss-Allocating and Conduct-Regulating Rules [PDF]
In this paper, I disagree with the premise that all tort rules can be meaningfully classified as either compensatory or deterrent. I argue that most tort rules are both and that the compensation and deterrence goals ascribed to the tort system cannot be

This study examines how pore shape and manufacturing‐induced deviations affect the mechanical properties of 3D‐printed lattice materials with constant porosity. Combining µ‐CT analysis, FEM, and compression testing, the authors show that structural imperfections reduce stiffness and strength, while bulk material inhomogeneities probably enhance ...

Functionally gradient tissue scaffold design and deposition path planning for bio-additive processes [PDF]
A layer-based tissue scaffold is designed with heterogeneous internal architecture. The proposed layer-based design uses a bi-layer pattern of radial and spiral layer consecutively to generate functionally gradient porosity following the geometry of the ...

An evaluation of scaffolding for virtual interactive tutorials [PDF]
Scaffolding refers to a temporary support framework used during construction. Applied to teaching and learning it describes measures to support a learner to become confident and self-reliant in a subject. In a Web environment scaffolding features need to

Design and compressive behavior of controllable irregular porous scaffolds: based on Veronoi-tessellation and for additive manufacturing [PDF]
Adjustment of the mechanical properties (apparent elastic modulus and compressive strength) in porous scaffolds is important for artificial implants and bone tissue engineering.

Guided by the golden ratio, a class of aperiodic architected metamaterials is introduced to address the intrinsic trade‐off between strength and toughness. By unifying local geometric heterogeneity with global order, the golden‐ratio‐guided aperiodic architecture promotes spatial delocalization of damage tolerence regions, leading to more tortuous ...
