Dislocation of the incus

The present investigation deals with an analysis of the tomographic findings in an earlier published material of dislocations of the incus. Of 34 patients in whom tomography was performed, agreement between the tomographic and surgical findings was found in 22. In nine patients the tomograms were considered not conclusive.

Incus Interposition

A 10- to 15-year follow-up study of patients with modeled incus interposition procedure for restoration of hearing reveals that hearing gains as reported in 1972 were sustained by long-term postoperative care despite resurgence of problems from negative middle ear air pressures.

Osteoma of the incus.

Osteomas of the temporal bone are rare. Osteomas of the middle ear have been reported but none involving an ossicle. We describe a case of a 28-year-old man who had a conductive hearing loss caused by an osteoma of the incus.

Incus reposition: Goblet prosthesis

AbstractA stainless steel goblet shaped prosthesis is used to attach the repositioned incus to the stapes. A two year follow‐up was made of the first 116 patients in which the prosthesis was used for ossicular reconstruction.The incidence of extrusion and ankylosis is diminished, and 75% of all cases had closure within 10 db.
