Synthesis and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy of indane structures: indanes mono- and disubstituted in the pentagonal ring [PDF]
Indanes monosubstituted and 1,2- and 1,3-disubstituted in the pentagonal ring were synthesized, and configurations were assigned to the 1,2-disubstituted compounds by means of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Key words: mono- and disubstituted indanes, conformation, configuration, 1H and 13C NMR, synthesis.

6-Methoxy-1-tetralone was transformed in six steps into an indan derivative related to the sesquiterpenes mutisianthol and jungianol. Key steps involve a thalium(III)-promoted ring-contraction (to assemble the indan unit)and a Wittig olefination (to ...

Synthesis of 2-Sulfonyl Indenes and Indanes
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2019In this paper, we developed facile and high-yield synthetic routes for the preparation of 2-sulfonyl indenes and indanes, including: (i) Amberlyst-15-promoted Knoevenagel reaction of β-ketosulfones and arylaldehydes in refluxing toluene; (ii) Grignard reagent (R'MgBr) or reducing reagent (NaBH4) promoted regio- and/or stereocontrolled 1,4-addition or 1,

Ring puckering splitting and structure of indan
Journal of Molecular Spectroscopy, 2015The ground state ring puckering splitting of the cyclopentane ring of indan has been precisely determined (Delta E-01 = 22.364(1) MHz) by measuring the very weak mu(c)-type transitions with pulse jet Fourier transform microwave spectroscopy. In addition, the rotational spectra of all C-13 monosubstituted isotopologues have been assigned and measured in

The Indans Formed by Dimerization of Some Aromatic Terpenoids
, 1986Previous work upon the dimerization of carvacrol derivatives to form indans is corrected. During attempts to synthesize compound (I), the diterpenoid occurring in Callitris macleayana heartwood,' we had occasion to reflux the o-quinol acetate (2) with ...
