ABSTRACT This paper examines the causal impact of federal homeless‐assistance grants on reported homelessness and shelter capacity across 370 Continuums of Care in 2019. We exploit cross‐sectional variation in pre‐1940 housing shares, used in Community Development Block Grant formula allocations, as an instrument for combined CoC and Emergency ...

Existence of nonnegative solutions to positone-type problems in R^N with indefinite weights
We study the existence of a nonnegative solution to the following problem in ${mathbb{R}^N}$, $N geq 3$, in both the radial as well as in the non-radial case with an indefinite weight function $a(x)$: $$displaylines{ -Delta u=lambda a(x)f(u) cr u(x)

CFT complexity and penalty factors
Quantum complexity of conformal field theory (CFT) states has recently gained significant attention, both as a diagnostic tool in condensed matter systems and in connection with holographic observables probing black hole interiors.

Loop type subcontinua of positive solutions for indefinite concave-convex problems
We establish the existence of loop type subcontinua of nonnegative solutions for a class of concave-convex type elliptic equations with indefinite weights, under Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions.

Existence results for a superlinear singular equation of Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg type [PDF]
In this paper, using Mountain Pass Lemma and Linking Argument, we prove the existence of nontrivial weak solutions for the Dirichlet problem for the superlinear equation of Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg type in the case where the parameter $\lambda\in (0 ...

Abstract Based on an analysis of the Old Literary Tibetan corpus—a corpus of the oldest documented Tibetic language—the present study provides evidence that literary Tibetan v3 verb stems (commonly termed ‘future’) initially encoded passive voice. New arguments put forward in this article range from Trans‐Himalayan nominal morphology to early Tibetan ...

Positive bounded solutions for semilinear elliptic systems with indefinite weights in the half-space
In this article, we study the existence and nonexistence of positive bounded solutions of the Dirichlet problem $$\displaylines{ -\Delta u=\lambda p(x)f(u,v),\quad \text{in } {\mathbb{R}}_+^n,\cr -\Delta v=\lambda q(x)g(u,v), \quad \text{in ...

Strongly indefinite systems with critical sobolev exponents and weights
Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded smooth domain in \(\mathbb R^N\), \(N\geq 4\) and \(\lambda,\mu\in\mathbb R\). The author deals with the following problem: \[ -\Delta v=\lambda u+K(x)|u|^{p-1}u\text{ in }\Omega, \quad -\Delta u=\mu v+ Q(x)|v|^{q-1}v\text{ in }\Omega, \quad u=v=0\text{ on }\partial\Omega, \tag{1} \] where \(p,q>1\) and coefficients \(K,Q ...

AGRICULTURE IN A SOCIALIST CITY: Towards an Alter‐Urban Political Ecology
Abstract Urban political ecology has developed as a critique of capitalist urbanization. This article develops the concept of alter‐urban political ecology to define urban environments emerging not from capitalist urbanization but from efforts to transform it. Drawing on archival research and ethnographic fieldwork in five urban farms in socialist Cuba,

A Discontinuous Sturm-Liouville Operator With Indefinite Weight
In this paper, we consider an indefinite Sturm-Liouville operator with eigenparameter-dependent boundary conditions andtransmission conditions. In an appropriate space K, we define a new self-adjoint operator A such that the eigenvalues ofA coincide with those of such a problem and obtain asymptotic approximation for its eigenvalues and eigenfunctions.
