Variability of Indentation Size Effect (ISE) of Standard Reference Block
MAPAN, 2013The aim of the submitted work is to study the influence of applied loads ranging from 0.09807 to 0.9807 N on microhardness. Whereas standard reference block with defined specified hardness and its uncertainty was used as a specimen, individual measurement involved indirect calibration of tester.

The intrinsic microstructural length scales of piezoelectric materials (e.g. grain size, nature of the domain and their orientations) spans from micron to nanoscale have a pronounced influence on the electromechanical behaviour. Of all these microstructural features, domain configurations particularly found to control the nanomechanical properties ...

The relationship between the deformation and the indentation size effect (ISE)
Metallurgical Research & Technology, 2019The aim of the submitted work is to study the relationship between the local deformation and the indentation size effect (ISE). A local value of reduction of the area (Z) was used as the measure of the deformation. Applied loads in the micro-hardness test ranged between 0.09807 to 0.9807 N.

Indentation Size Effect (ISE) in Copper Subjected to Severe Plastic Deformation (SPD)
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2014The characteristic length scale of deformation in copper specimens subjected to severe plastic deformation (SPD) through surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) was studied with indentation experiments. Annealed copper disks were shot peened with 6-mm diameter tungsten carbide spheres with an average velocity of 2.3 m/s for 15 minutes in a ...

Microhardness Anisotropy and the Indentation Size Effect (ISE) on the (100) of Single Crystal NiAl
MRS Proceedings, 2000ABSTRACTThe Knoop microhardness anisotropy of single crystal NiAl, a B2 intermetallic compound, was investigated on the (001) plane at indentation test loads from 25 to 500 g. An energy balance analysis was applied to analyze the indentation size effect (ISE). The load independent, orientation independent Knoop microhardness was determined to be 220 kg/

The Indentation Size Effect (ISE) for Knoop Hardness in Five Ceramic Materials
2008The variation of indentation hardness with contact load i.e., the indentation size effect (ISE), was investigated for five ceramic materials: (i) AlON, (ii) AD995 CAP3 Al 2 O 3 , (iii) pressureless-sintered SiC (Hexoloy SA), (iv) SiC-N, and (v) SiC-B. A Knoop diamond indenter was used to make indentations in the load range from 0.49 N (0.05 Kg) to 137 ...

Indentation Size Effect (ISE) of Vickers Hardness in Steels: Correlation with H/E
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013The indentation size effect (ISE) in Vickers test using steel as a typical model material group with selected heat treatments (annealed or tempered) has been investigated and analysed. Systematically hardness test were performed within a commonly used micro-load range.

Indentation Size Effect for Glasses: Yes, There is a Fracture Contribution
2005The influence of cracking upon apparent Knoop hardness was investigated for five glasses. The Knoop hardnesses decreased with increasing load in accordance with the classic indentation size effect (ISE). Cracking commenced at moderate loads and, in three of the five glasses studied, altered the indentation sizes and the ISE trends. Cracked indentations
