Temperature-Induced Internal Stress Influence on Specimens in Indentation Tests [PDF]
The factors affecting the internal stress of specimens during indentation tests were investigated by finite element analysis (FEA) modelling. This was carried out to gain a qualitative understanding of the test errors introduced by the temperature ...

QUANTITATIVE EVALUATION OF EXPERIMENTAL BONE REGENERATION USING INDENTATION TESTS [PDF]
Objectives: To determine whether the macroindentation test can be applied to quantitatively assess bone regeneration. Methods: A 3.2 mm diameter transverse monocortical defect was created on the medial aspect of both proximal metaphyses of the tibia ...

Instrumented indentation tests are an efficient approach for the characterization of stress–strain curves instead of tensile or compression tests and have recently been applied for the evaluation of mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. In high-

Tools and products used in everyday life are regularly exposed to dynamic, cyclical stress. These stresses are particularly significant in the case of polymers, as their viscoelastic behavior means that creep can be considerable even at room temperature.

When dealing with joints and bearings, high pressures localised at the contact interface lead to residual plastic strain. The present paper combines numerical simulations and experimental tests to investigate the role of the material constitutive law in ...

Mechanical Behaviour of Plantar Adipose Tissue: From Experimental Tests to Constitutive Analysis
Plantar adipose tissue is a connective tissue whose structural configuration changes according to the foot region (rare or forefoot) and is related to its mechanical role, providing a damping system able to adsorb foot impact and bear the body weight ...

Analysis of depth-sensing indentation tests with a Knoop indenter [PDF]
The present work shows how data obtained in a depth-sensing indentation test using a Knoop indenter may be analyzed to provide elastic modulus and hardness of the specimen material. The method takes into account the elastic recovery along the direction of the short axis of the residual impression as the indenter is removed.
