Transmission/disequilibrium tests incorporating unaffected offspring. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
We propose a new method for family-based tests of association and linkage called transmission/disequilibrium tests incorporating unaffected offspring (TDTU).

Liouville Integrability in a Four-Dimensional Model of the Visual Cortex

open access: yesJournal of Imaging, 2021
We consider a natural extension of the Petitot–Citti–Sarti model of the primary visual cortex. In the extended model, the curvature of contours is taken into account.

Scale-Invariant Curvature Fluctuations from an Extended Semiclassical Gravity

open access: yes, 2015
We present an extension of the semiclassical Einstein equations which couples n-point correlation functions of a stochastic Einstein tensor to the n-point functions of the quantum stress-energy tensor.

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Mediators of Inflammation in Acute Kidney Injury

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2009
Acute kidney injury (AKI) remains to be an independent risk factor for mortality and morbidity. Inflammation is now believed to play a major role in the pathopathophysiology of AKI.

The q-Onsager algebra and its alternating central extension

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2022
The q-Onsager algebra Oq has a presentation involving two generators W0, W1 and two relations, called the q-Dolan/Grady relations. The alternating central extension Oq has a presentation involving the alternating generators {W−k}k=0∞, {Wk+1}k=0∞, {Gk+1}k=

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Use of Fatigue Index as a Measure of Local Muscle Fatigability in Ryanodine Receptor Isoform-1-Related Myopathies

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2019
Introduction: Individuals affected with ryanodine receptor isoform-1-related myopathies (RYR1-RM) commonly experience fatigability in the quadriceps, which may limit physical function and potentially diminish quality of life.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
