Inherited metabolic epilepsies–established diseases, new approaches

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Inherited metabolic epilepsies (IMEs) represent the inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) in which epilepsy is a prevailing component, often determining other neurodevelopmental outcomes associated with the disorder. The different metabolic pathways affected by individual IMEs are the basis of their rarity and heterogeneity.

Simultaneous Blind Separation and Recognition of Speech Mixtures Using Two Microphones to Control a Robot Cleaner

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, 2013
This paper proposes a method for the simultaneous separation and recognition of speech mixtures in noisy environments using two-channel based independent vector analysis (IVA) on a home-robot cleaner. The issues to be considered in our target application

Chloride Intracellular Channel 2 Can Function as a Malignant Factor in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The association of chloride intracellular channel 2 (CLIC2) with tumors has remained unclear. However, recently, CLIC2 was found to exhibit antitumor properties in some tumors. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the clinical relevance of CLIC2 expression in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) to determine whether it ...

The Significance of Structural Transformation for Poverty Alleviation in Intergovernmental Authority on Development

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT How important is structural transformation for poverty reduction in the region of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development? The novelty of the study lies in examining the relationship between structural transformation and poverty in the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) region using a sectoral analysis with a focus on ...

What can lithics tell us about food production during the transition to farming? Exploring harvesting practices and cultural changes during the neolithic in Southwest Asia: a view from Qminas (north‐western Syria)

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examines the continuity and change in harvesting practices between the Late Pre‐Pottery Neolithic B (LPPNB) and the Early Pottery Neolithic at Qminas, north‐western Levant, through a traceological analysis of flint sickles. By combining qualitative traceological analysis with quantitative functional approaches, we demonstrate that ...

ZNF844 Suppresses Invasion and Metastasis in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma by Inhibiting the PI3K‐AKT Signaling Pathway

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
ZNF844 functions as a tumor suppressor in NPC by inhibiting invasion and metastasis through regulation of the PI3K‐AKT signaling pathway. It may serve as a promising therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker for NPC. ABSTRACT Epigenetic regulation plays a crucial role in the development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).

Analysis of BpbHLH Gene Family Responsive to MeJA Signalling in Betula platyphylla Suk. and Functional Mechanisms of BpbHLH42/44 in Genetic Improvement and Triterpenoid Biosynthesis

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The basic helix–loop–helix (bHLH) transcription factor family regulates plant secondary metabolism, development and stress responses. Although triterpenoids such as betulinic acid (BA), betulin (BT) and oleanolic acid (OA) from Betula platyphylla Suk.

Hypoxic and Fe‐Responses are Regulated by the ERFVII Factors and the PCO Branch of the N‐Degron Pathway According to Iron Availability

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In plants, iron homeostasis and oxygen metabolism are strictly related, indeed several Fe‐requiring enzymes catalyze reactions that also involve O2 as a reagent, product, entry or end point of the pathway. Oxygen sensing itself relies on the Fe‐dependent enzymes Plant cysteine oxidases.

Rhizobial motility preference in root colonization of Medicago truncatula

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 1, Page 547-562, April 2026.
Summary Tunnel‐like infection thread (IT) structures support root colonization by symbiotic nitrogen‐fixing rhizobia bacteria in most legume species. These tip‐grown structures are key to directing rhizobia from root hairs to developing nodules, where they are hosted to fix nitrogen.

Identification and Characterization of an In Silico Designed Membrane‐Active Peptide with Antiviral Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 16, 18 March 2026.
An evolutionary molecular dynamics platform is used to design P1.6, a membrane‐active peptide that senses lipid packing defects in viral envelopes. P1.6 adopts a stabilized α‐helical structure upon membrane contact, disrupts virus‐like liposomes, and damages HIV‐1 particles.
