Switching management in couplers with biharmonic longitudinal modulation of refractive index [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters 34, 3544 (2009), 2009
We address light propagation in couplers with longitudinal biharmonic modulation of refractive index in neighboring channels. While simplest single-frequency out-of-phase modulation allows suppression of coupling for strictly defined set of resonant frequencies, the addition of modulation on multiple frequency dramatically modifies the structure of ...

Power-dependent shaping of vortex solitons in optical lattices with spatially modulated nonlinear refractive index [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters 33, 2173 (2008), 2008
We address vortex solitons supported by optical lattices featuring modulation of both the linear and nonlinear refractive indices. We find that when the modulation is out-of-phase the competition between both effects results in remarkable shape transformations of the solitons which profoundly affect their properties and stability.

Vector OFDM With Index Modulation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
The concept of index modulation (IM) has gained increased attention in recent years. As a member of the IM family, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with index modulation (OFDM-IM), which is able to convey additional information bits using the ...

A Novel Index Modulation Dimension Based on Filter Domain: Filter Shapes Index Modulation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Communications, 2020
A novel domain for Index Modulation (IM) named “Filter Domain” is proposed. This new domain generalizes many existing modulations and IM domains. In addition, a novel scheme “Filter Shape Index Modulation” (FSIM) is proposed.

Modulation of negative index metamaterials in the near-IR range [PDF]

open access: green, 2007
Optical modulation of the effective refractive properties of a "fishnet" metamaterial with a Ag/Si/Ag heterostructure is demonstrated in the near-IR range and the associated fast dynamics of negative refractive index is studied by pump-probe method ...

Subcarrier-Index Modulation Aided OFDM - Will It Work?

open access: goldIEEE Access, 2016
The achievable performance of subcarrier-index modulation (SIM) is analyzed in terms of its minimum Euclidean distance, constrained and unconstrained average mutual information, as well as its peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR).

Index and Composition Modulation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Communications Letters, 2021
In this paper, we propose a novel modulation concept which we call \emph{index and composition modulation (ICM)}. In the proposed concept, we use indices of active/deactive codeword elements and compositions of an integer to encode information. In this regard, we first determine the activated codeword elements, then we exploit energy levels of these ...

FRaC: FMCW-Based Joint Radar-Communications System Via Index Modulation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Journal on Selected Topics in Signal Processing, 2021
Dual function radar communications (DFRC) systems are attractive technologies for autonomous vehicles, which utilize electromagnetic waves to constantly sense the environment while simultaneously communicating with neighbouring devices.

Filter Shape Index Modulation [PDF]

open access: yesICC 2021 - IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2021
Index Modulation (IM) techniques enable a significant Spectral Energy (SE) and/or Energy Efficiency (EE) enhancement. In this paper, a novel Filter IM domain is being explored, where a novel scheme Filter Shape Index Modulation (FSIM) is proposed. In contrast to most existing Single-Input Single-Output (SISO) IM systems, the proposed scheme achieves a ...
