In this chapter, we introduce a novel code-based index modulation technique for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), named index modulated OFDM spread spectrum (IM-OFDM-SS), which utilizes the indices of spreading codes to convey information in addition to conventional constellation symbols. We first present the system model of IM-OFDM-SS,

This tutorial concentrates on how grating (modulated-index) structures are used in thin-film optics. The basic concepts of reflection and transmission through grating structures, consisting either of multiple layers or periodic structures in a film surface, are presented. The use of gratings in linear and nonlinear integrated optics is introduced.

Subcarrier-index modulation OFDM
2009 IEEE 20th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2009A new transmission approach, referred to as subcarrier-index modulation (SIM) is proposed to be integrated with the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. More specifically, it relates to adding an additional dimension to the conventional two-dimensional (2-D) amplitude/phase modulation (APM) techniques, i.e. amplitude shift keying (

In this chapter, we discuss the realization of index modulation in the space domain. First, we take a brief review of the pioneering space domain index modulation technique, namely spatial modulation (SM). Then, we propose the generalized pre-coding aided quadrature spatial modulation (GPQSM) scheme, which extends SM to the receiver side, and the ...

Frequency Domain Index Modulation
2016Chapters 2 and 3 discuss how index modulation operates in the space and space-time domains, respectively. In this chapter, we focus on the implementation of index modulation in the frequency domain. First, the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with index modulation (OFDM-IM), which is a representative of this sort, is introduced.
