Adaptive redundant residue number system coded multicarrier modulation
The novel class of nonbinary maximum minimum distance redundant residue number system (RRNS) codes is invoked in the context of adaptively RRNS coded, symbol-by-symbol adaptive multicarrier modulation, in order to combat the effects of frequency ...

Turbo Detection of Precoded Sphere Packing Modulation Using Four Transmit Antennas for Differential Space-Time Spreading [PDF]
This paper presents a novel turbo-detected multidimensional Sphere Packing (SP) modulation scheme using four transmit antennas combined with Differentially encoded Space-Time Spreading (DSTS). The DSTS scheme can be readily combined with PSK, QAM as well

Labeling Diversity for Media-Based Space-Time Block Coded Spatial Modulation
Media-based space-time block coded spatial modulation (MBSTBC-SM) combines the advantages of media-based modulation (MBM) and STBC-SM. Meanwhile, labelling diversity (LD) has been applied to STBC-SM and improve the error performance.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Characterization of frequency drift of sampled-grating DBR laser module under direct modulation [PDF]
The authors demonstrate the drift in frequency of a static sampled-grating distributed Bragg reflector (SG DBR) laser module when it is subjected to direct modulation.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

An Efficient Index Mapping Algorithm for OFDM-Index Modulation [PDF]
An index mapping algorithm that efficiently associates the subcarrier activation pattern (SAP) or constellation mode pattern (CMP) sequences with the index selecting bit (ISB) sequences is proposed to improve the error performances of two OFDM-`index modulation' (IM) variants, OFDM-`in-phase/quadrature' (IQ)-IM and `coordinate interleaving' (CI ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
