OFDM With Hybrid Number and Index Modulation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
A novel transmission scheme is introduced for efficient data transmission by conveying additional information bits through jointly changing the index and number of active subcarriers within each orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) subblock.

Experimental demonstration of optical OFDM with subcarrier index modulation for IM/DD VLC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We for the first time experimentally demonstrate an IM/DD VLC system using optical OFDM with subcarrier index modulation (OFDM-SIM) and digital pre-equalization. Experimental results show that OFDM-SIM achieves greatly improved BER performance than classical OFDM.

In-phase and quadrature filter shape index modulation

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2023
This paper proposes a novel modulation scheme called “In Phase and Quadrature-Filter Shape Index Modulation” (IQ-FSIM). It aims to enhance the spectral/energy efficiencies (SE/EE) while generalizing several existing modulations and index modulation (IM ...

Wavelet Transform Aided Single-Carrier FDMA With Index Modulation

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Vehicular Technology
Single-carrier frequency-division multiple access (SC-FDMA) is a well-known multiuser transmission method for uplink communications owing to its low peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) characteristics. Simultaneously, index modulation (IM) has been widely

OFDM transmission scheme with subcarrier supply index modulation [PDF]

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2023
To address the drawback that subcarrier activation pattern (SAP) of the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with index modulation (OFDM-IM) cannot match the binary numbers which affects the system performance, the orthogonal frequency division ...

Pulse index modulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
*Çelik, Yasin ( Aksaray, Yazar )Emerging systems such as Internet-of-things (IoT) and machine-to-machine (M2M) communications have strict requirements on the power consumption of used equipments and associated complexity in the transceiver design.

Coherent Optical OFDM With Index Modulation for Long-Haul Transmission in Optical Communication Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
In this paper, it is proposed to enhance coherent optical orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) system by using index modulation in terms of bit error rate (BER) and spectral efficiency for different levels of the fiber nonlinearity.

Hamming Distance Optimized Underwater Acoustic OTFS-IM Systems

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
The orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) modulation technique can provide reliable communication in time-varying channels. Due to the dispersive characteristics of underwater acoustic channels, this paper proposes an OTFS-IM underwater acoustic ...

Subcarrier Grouping-Enabled Improvement in Transmission Performance of Subcarrier Index-Power Modulated Optical OFDM for IM/DD PON Systems [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Lightwave Technology, 2018
As an improved variant of a previously published subcarrier index-power modulated optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (SIPM-OOFDM), a signal transmission technique termed SIPM-OOFDM with subcarrier grouping (SIPM-SG-OOFDM) is proposed and investigated for the first time.

Discrete Multitone Modulation for Maximizing Transmission Rate in Step-Index Plastic Optical Fibres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The use of standard 1-mm core-diameter step-index plastic optical fiber (SI-POF) has so far been mainly limited to distances of up to 100 m and bit-rates in the order of 100 Mbit/s.
