Index structures for structured documents

Proceedings of the first ACM international conference on Digital libraries - DL '96, 1996
Much research has been carried out in order to manage structured documents such as SGML documents and to provide powerful query facilities which exploit document structures as well as document contents. In order to perform structure queries efficiently in a structured document management system, an index structure which supports fast document element ...

Modulated index structures

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 1990
We present a brief tutorial overview of the basic physics of periodically modulated index structures and how they affect an incident electromagnetic wave in various simple limits. Discussions of the wave-vector spectrum, coupled-amplitude equations, and finite grating-size effects are included.

Multidimensional Index Structures

2003
As mentioned in Chapters 1 and 3, the shape representation of objects can be used to query and search the object databases for different purposes. For example, CAD/CAM, computer graphics, and multimedia applications try to find objects in a database that match a given object.

Parallel Index Structures

2000
Access methods compose a powerful tool for efficient query processing in database systems. The research in the field is active for several decades and new access methods are being proposed, because new data types appear in diverse application domains.

Modulated-index structures

Annual Meeting Optical Society of America, 1988
This tutorial concentrates on how grating (modulated-index) structures are used in thin-film optics. The basic concepts of reflection and transmission through grating structures, consisting either of multiple layers or periodic structures in a film surface, are presented. The use of gratings in linear and nonlinear integrated optics is introduced.

Structured digital video indexing

Proceedings of 13th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 1996
This paper addresses the problems of film segmentation into its syntactic elements (the shots) and of their aggregation into semantic sets under constrained conditions: the shot/reverse-shot scenes (SRS). It then addresses the problem of describing the dynamic content of each shot through the analysis of camera motion.

Indexing Structure for Graph-Structured Data

2008
An own design of an indexing structure for general graph structured data called ρ-index that allows an effective processing of special path queries is presented. These special queries represent for example a search for all paths lying between two arbitrary vertices limited to a certain path length.
