Index structures for structured documents

Proceedings of the first ACM international conference on Digital libraries - DL '96, 1996
Much research has been carried out in order to manage structured documents such as SGML documents and to provide powerful query facilities which exploit document structures as well as document contents. In order to perform structure queries efficiently in a structured document management system, an index structure which supports fast document element ...

Computing the Structural Index

SIAM Journal on Algebraic Discrete Methods, 1986
This paper deals with a subclass of differential/algebraic equations which can be solved by backward differentiation methods if their index (determined by the structure of the system) does not exceed two. The authors extend the algorithm given by the first author [On algorithms for obtaining a maximum transversal, ACM Trans. Math.

Structure of index invariant systems

1971 IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 1971
This paper introduces the concept of a controllability module and then uses it to study certain algebraic properties of index-invariant, time-varying, linear systems. It is shown that controllability modules possess a property similar to the pole placement property of controllability subspaces.

Updates for Structure Indexes

2002
The problem of indexing path queries in semistructured/XML databases has received considerable attention recently, and several proposals have advocated the use of structure indexes as supporting data structures for this problem. In this paper, we investigate efficient update algorithms for structure indexes.

A Structural Approach to Indexing Triples

2012
As an essential part of the W3C’s semantic web stack and linked data initiative, RDF data management systems (also known as triplestores) have drawn a lot of research attention. The majority of these systems use value-based indexes (e.g., B¿+¿-trees) for physical storage, and ignore many of the structural aspects present in RDF graphs.

Structured digital video indexing

Proceedings of 13th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 1996
This paper addresses the problems of film segmentation into its syntactic elements (the shots) and of their aggregation into semantic sets under constrained conditions: the shot/reverse-shot scenes (SRS). It then addresses the problem of describing the dynamic content of each shot through the analysis of camera motion.
