Whittle Index for Partially Observed Binary Markov Decision Processes
We consider the problem of dynamically scheduling M out of N binary Markov chains when only noisy observations of state are available, with ergodic (equivalently, long run average) reward.

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

RESTLESS BANDIT MARGINAL PRODUCTIVITY INDICES II: MULTIPROJECT CASE AND SCHEDULING A MULTICLASS MAKE-TO-ORDER/-STOCK M/G/1 QUEUE [PDF]
This paper develops a framework based on convex optimization and economic ideas to formulate and solve approximately a rich class of dynamic and stochastic resource allocation problems, fitting in a generic discrete-state multi-project restless bandit ...

The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

Essays on indexability of stochastic sheduling and dynamic allocation problems
In this Thesis, we first deploy Gittins index theory to establish the indexability of inter-alia general families of restless bandits that arise in problems of stochastic scheduling with switching penalties and machine maintenance. We also give formulae
