A Blood‐Brain Barrier‐Penetrant Ag(III) Corrole Compound Rescues Alzheimer's Disease Pathology by Targeting Aβ42‐Induced Oxidative Stress

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The newly designed metallo‐corrole (Mor‐Cor)Ag(III) with a morpholino group exhibited promising therapeutic potential for Alzheimer's disease. It significantly reduces reactive oxygen species (ROS), decreases GFAP expression, increases neurite length, and decreases cell death compared to other similar metallo‐corroles. Abstract Alzheimer's disease (AD)

Selection into Mixed Marriages: Evidence from North Carolina, 1894-1906 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Using a novel dataset from agricultural censuses and geological sources, I examine the selec- tion into mixed marriages between whites and Cherokee Indians in North Carolina during the late nineteenth century.

Mucin‐Inspired Filamentous Sulfated Copolymers Effectively Inhibit Human Respiratory Syncytial Virus (hRSV) Infectivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Virucidal polymers serve as effective antivirals by not only inhibiting viruses but also destroying them. Inspired by the chemical properties of mucin‐mimetics, dendronized polyglycerol‐sulfated, mucin‐inspired amphiphilic copolymers (MIACPs) have been developed.

Alkylthienyl Side Groups in Conjugated Polymers Enable Localization of π Electron Density and Facilitate Efficient Hole Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Resonance Raman spectroscopy is used in combination with other spectroscopic and morphology characterization techniques to unveil the mechanistic origin of the shift in synthetic strategy to alkylthienyl peripheral groups for high‐performing organic photovoltaics.

Economic and Psychic Exploitation of American Indians [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Two general points can be made about Euroamerican exploitation of American Indians: first, whatever level of exploitation they have experienced by the motion picture industry, it is part of a long tradition which dates back to the earliest contacts ...

A Generalized Approach for Distal C–H Arylation of Organic Building Blocks: Unveiling the Role of Counter Anion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a general strategy for meta‐selective C–H arylation using aryl iodides and a Pd(II)/Pd(IV) catalytic system guided by a removable directing group. DFT and experimental studies reveal that counter anion tuning (acetate to trifluoroacetate) significantly enhances selectivity.
