Simulation of Quantum Magnetism in Mixed Spin Systems with Impurity Doped Ion Crystal

open access: yes, 2011
We propose the realization of linear crystals of cold ions which contain different atomic species for investigating quantum phase transitions and frustration effects in spin system beyond the commonly discussed case of $s=1/2$.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

On the studying the spectrum of differential operators’ family whose potentials converge to the Dirac delta function

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений. Поволжский регион: Физико-математические науки, 2021
Background. The paper proposes a new method for studying differential operators with discontinuous coefficients. We study a sequence of differential operators of high even order whose potentials converge to the Dirac delta function.

Meanders and Reconnection-Collision Sequences in the Standard Nontwist Map

open access: yes, 2004
New global periodic orbit collision/separatrix reconnection scenarios in the standard nontwist map in different regions of parameter space are described in detail, including exact methods for determining reconnection thresholds that are implemented ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

From Multicolor Photometric Indices to the HR Diagram [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1978
The Vilnius photometric system permits one to determine photometrically temperatures and log g's or spectral types and MV's of stars in spite of the presence of interstellar reddening. The position of any normal star in the HR diagram can be determined by its direct calibration in five reddening-free quantities Q.
