SPECIES ASSEMBLAGES AND INDICATOR SPECIES:THE NEED FOR A FLEXIBLE ASYMMETRICAL APPROACH [PDF]
(Uploaded by Plazi for the Bat Literature Project) This paper presents a new and simple method to find indicator species and species assemblages characterizing groups of sites. The novelty of our approach lies in the way we combine a species relative abundance with its relative frequency of occurrence in the various groups of sites.

Modified withdrawal periods and species indications
Veterinary Record, 2010I WOULD like to make veterinary surgeons aware of modified withdrawal periods for Clamoxyl RTU, modified withdrawal periods and species indications for Clamoxyl LA, and a change in the indicated species for Terramycin Q-100 (all produced by Pfizer Animal Health).

There are many environmental causes to species extinction. Some foreseeable and some unpredictable; those foreseeable are mainly of human activity origin such as pollution while those unpredictable are Mother Nature vagaries such as earthquakes or volcanic eruption. Invasive Alien Species and Their Indicators
2014Biodiversity is obstructed not only by climate change but also, among other factors, by invasive alien species (IAS). The infiltration/invasion, overgrowth, and control of IAS is linked to many elements, such as human activities that change our environment in such a way that, together with climate change, new opportunities for alien species to conquer ...

Taraxacum species as environmental indicators for grassland management
Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 1983A classification of the microspecies of the genus Taraxacum was made in a range from low to highly dynamic habitats based on qualitative inventories of grasslands under different management conditions. After several years of constant management, a characteristic species composition occurs. Under mowing (hayfield) conditions, dandelions disappear over a

Biomonitoring of indicator species of lichen by EPR spectroscopy
Biophysics, 2013EPR spectroscopy is beginning to occupy a key position in the field of quality control environment. The analysis of the number of paramagnetic centers in the thallus of indicator species of lichen (in a tolerant and sensitive species) was carried out. The number of paramagnetic centers in the lichen thallus was found to depend on the intensity of human

Egyptian plant species as new ozone indicators
Environmental Pollution, 2002The aim of this study was to test and select one or more highly sensitive, specific and environmentally successful Egyptian bioindicator plants for ozone (O3). For that purpose more than 30 Egyptian species and cultivars were subjected to extensive screening studies under controlled environmental and pollutant exposure conditions to mimic the Egyptian ...

Gradient Analysis: The Use of Species and Synthetic Indices
Ecology, 1967Gradient analysis by means of species indices and stand synthetic values provides a very fruitful approach to ecological investigation. Bivariate analysis of unweighted and variously weighted stand averages shows that there is little practical difference between the results obtained at the gradient level using tree species frequency, density, basal ...

Copepod Indicator Species in Estuaries
Ecology, 1962onization in marine communities. The Kapoho Flow and its numerous environmental conditions will provide the ecologist with much of this information. The changes in the biological environment are being studied with emphasis on the correlation and interactions with the biological, physical, and chemical environmental factors. The proximity of other dated
