Cultural Incentive Learning: How Culture Shapes Acquisition of Values
ABSTRACT Although research on human values is abundant, it has so far neglected a crucial question: what are the psychological mechanisms whereby culture shapes people's values? To address this, the manuscript introduces a framework examining how culture shapes the acquisition of values, a process referred to as cultural incentive learning.

Very High Cycle Fatigue Performance of Ductile Cast Iron With Different Microstructures
ABSTRACT The very high cycle fatigue performance of four ductile cast irons, a solid solution strengthened ferritic, ferritic‐pearlitic, and two austempered ductile cast irons, was investigated by ultrasonic fatigue testing under fully reversed loading conditions. The step‐stress fatigue testing method incorporating re‐use of runouts was employed, with

Preference changes and index number theory
Abstract The economic approach to the cost of living index assumes that consumer preferences remain constant over time. This assumption poses little risk in calculating a short‐run intertemporal bilateral price index. The assumption, however, breaks down in the case of a fixed‐based time series index spanning a long period and in the context of ...

Decision theorists have attempted to fill these silences by proposing various extensions to expected ...

Towards a Fregean psycholinguistics
Abstract This paper is partly exegetical, partly systematic. I argue that Frege's account of what he called “colouring” contains some important insights on how communication is related to mental states such as mental images or emotions. I also show that the Fregean perspective is supported by current research in psycholinguistics and that a full ...
