Strain Engineering of Antimonene by a First-principles Study: Mechanical and Electronic Properties

open access: yes, 2018
In this work, we investigate the mechanical and electronic properties of monolayer antimonene in its most stable beta-phase using first-principles calculations. The upper region of its valence band is found to solely consist of lone pair p-orbital states,

Indirect Tensile Strength Test on Heterogeneous Rock Using Square Plate Sample with a Circular Hole [PDF]

open access: yesLithosphere
An indirect testing method for determining the tensile strength of rock-like heterogeneous materials is proposed. The realistic failure process analysis method, which can consider material inhomogeneity, is applied to model the failure process of the ...

Wound Geometry Determines Whether Aligned‐Fiber Scaffolds Accelerate or Impede Diabetic Wound Healing: A Biased Random Walk Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Wound closure is governed by geometry‐orientation coupling: aligned fibers speed migration along their axis but hinder perpendicular advance. In vivo diabetic wound experiments with composition‐matched fibrin, combined with an anisotropic diffusion (biased random‐walk) model, quantify this trade‐off and generate a healing landscape.

A Data Driven Review of In Vitro Electrical and Mechanical Stimulation for Post‐Acute Phase Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how in vitro electrical and mechanical stimulation modulates wound healing in fibroblasts and keratinocytes. Analyzing over 560 experimental data points, we relate stimulation parameters to proliferation and migration outcomes, evaluate platform designs, and highlight the need for multi‐parameter optimization to advance targeted ...

Assessment of concrete anisotropy by means of compression and indirect tensile tests

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais, 2019
In reinforced concrete structural analysis and design it is normally assumed that the material is globally isotropic and homogeneous. Local departures from this model generally exert a minor influence on observed response and are therefore disregarded ...
