Mechanical performance of asphalt mixture containing eco-friendly additive by recycling PET

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
The reason for conducting this research was to examine asphalt mixtures and the influence of additives obtained from recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) on their mechanical properties. Due to this, after the chemical recycling of PET, the substance

A Circuit of Mechanically Regulated Transcription Factors Balances Regenerative and Fibrotic Memory of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Producing MSCs on rigid culture substrates induces a scar‐making phenotype, jeapordizing therapeutic success. ‘Tissue‐soft’ surfaces prevent MSC fibrogenesis and preserve regenerative traits. An epigenetic network, driven by HOXA11 and SALL1, maintains ‘soft memory’ by keeping chromatin open in relaxed MSCs, promoting anti‐fibrotic programs.

Fatigue life of hot mix asphalt mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Fatigue cracking is one of the major types of distress in asphalt concrete pavements. Under the action of repeated vehicular loading, the asphalt concrete deteriorates and eventually results in fatigue cracking.

A Direct Measurement Method for the Uniaxial Tensile Strength of Rock

open access: yesBuildings
A universally applicable direct tension test method is proposed in this paper based on the concept of “compression-to-tension”. Using this method, one or two typical rocks were selected for each of the three types of rocks.
