Oxide‐Free Titanium Coatings by Wire Arc Spraying in a Silane‐Doped Inert Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A silane‐doped argon atmosphere enables the production of oxide‐free titanium coatings via twin‐wire arc spraying at ambient pressure. This innovative approach eliminates residual oxygen, creating process conditions that prevent oxidation and nitride formation.

Reduced neutron widths in the nuclear data ensemble: Experiment and theory do not agree

open access: yes, 2010
I have analyzed reduced neutron widths ({\Gamma}_{n}^0) for the subset of 1245 resonances in the nuclear data ensemble (NDE) for which they have been reported.

Developing a framework for the analysis of power through depotentia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Stakeholder participation in tourism policy-making is usually perceived as providing a means of empowerment. However participatory processes drawing upon stakeholders from traditionally empowered backgrounds may provide the means of removing empowerment

Reducing Open‐Circuit Voltage Losses in Wide‐Bandgap FAPbBr3 Perovskite Solar Cells for Continuous Unassisted Light‐Driven Water Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The combination of formamidinium thiocyanate and 1,3‐propane diammonium iodide for bulk and top‐surface passivation, and a ternary fullerene blend to improve energy band alignment, suppresses energy losses in wide‐bandgap FAPbBr3 perovskite solar cells.

Raman Microscopy at the Organic–Inorganic Interfaces in Human Calcified Aortic Valves Shows the Co‐Existence of Whitlockite Crystals and Carbonated Hydroxyapatite‐Mineralized Collagen Fibrils

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study advances our understanding of aortic valve stenosis by capturing spatially resolved chemical and structural changes at the nanoscale. The findings highlight the potential of combined Raman and electron microscopy for understanding calcification mechanisms across diverse tissue types.

Germanane Quantum Dots Promote Metabolic Reprogramming of Immune Cells Toward Regulatory T Cells and Suppress Inflammation In Vitro and In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metabolic changes in immune cells direct the phenotype and function of the host immune system. Smart nanomaterials must target metabolic pathways to direct immune cell fate. This study reports the fabrication and first application of germanane quantum dots (GeHQDs) to modulate inflammation in vitro and in vivo.

Through Diamond Robust Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thin film diamond growth offers a unique opportunity for Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS); the encapsulation of plasmonic nanostructures within a transparent, chemically stable, and physically robust coating. The diamond acts as both a window and protective layer, enabling illumination of the plasmonic nanostructures through the diamond ...

Individual and collective identification in contemporary forensics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
It has long been understood that individual and collective identification are inexorably intertwined. This convergence is not limited to genetics. This paper discusses the convergence of individual and collective identification in a comparative analysis ...
